I can remember when the Neo Geo came out. I admired it from afar, and played some of the games in the arcades, but the home system was WAY out of my price range. Now fast forward a couple of decades, and we have this cool console that is very affordable. The fact that it can be used as both handheld and home console is pretty novel (now the Nintendo Switch does the same). It has a good selection of games right out of the box, but make sure to get the mega-pack, which adds 15 more games right on one card. The joystick is very usable, although certainly not as sturdy as some of the old-school ones back in the day. I love how the Neo Geo X has an hdmi connector so it plays nicely with modern tvs. It's a shame that this system is no longer being sold. Get one while you can!

If you missed out on the Neo Geo X Gold release from Tommo which had a reproduction of the AES joystick with USB, this is OK! More reminiscent of the Neo Geo CD controllers I suppose. The USB-C connector is angled, and there is a port on either side of the Neo Geo Mini so even if playing with two players and controllers plugged in, it will look symmetrical and balanced.

This isn't for everybody, I think it is geared specifically for the hard-core neogeo fans. If you grew up playing these games at your local corner store, they hold great value, but the average consumer may want to look elsewhere. The build quality could be better,, maybe some more metal in the chassis for wight and heft, or just simply a glass screen would elevate the handheld to a higher standard. But the main attraction is the docking station, a neo home console for a fraction of the cost, and the games are affordable too. I bought an extra stick and brought the arcade nostalgia home, because the best feature of this is the 2 player experience you just don't get from the modern era of consoles. As a fan, this gets 10 stars out of 5, as an average consumer it gets 3 out of 5.

It's a nice system fun to play with easy to use. I had a Neo Geo in 1992 and I love it and my Daughter who is now 33 years old and she said she remembers how hard I would play it, so I brought this system for the game playing memories i had know for helping me, a War Veteran Vietnam dealing with PTSD I'm a work in progress.
If you want to play snk games this is the way to go for the collector and enthusiasts! Beat the snes classic by years, don’t believe the negatives it is awesome.
