This is a great entry to the alphabet murder series by Sue Grafton. Kinsey is hired by the daughter of a woman who's been missing for 30 years. She wants to know if her mother is dead and for Kinsey to find her either way. The trail is colder than cold, but Grafton seamlessly blends scenes of Violet's past with Kinsey's present search to create an always interesting tale. Judy Kaye is, as always, a spectacular narrator. And the trademark hair-raising life-or-death struggle between Kinsey and the evil-doer is one of the best since the spectacular endings of A is for Alibi and C Is for Corpse. I really enjoyed this audio!!!
I have listened to all of Grafton's stories. They all have their merits, but some of the more recent ones, just haven't seem to hit their mark. I found "S" to be one of the best if not the best. Grafton switches back and forth between events happening over a 30 year period. As usual, there are a few red herrings thrown in so you keep changing your mind about "who dunit". As usual, when you get to the end, you're a little sad that the journey is over and you can't help but wonder why the story ended that way. Because "S" was so well done I will be highly anticipating "T".
What I like about buying audio books on EBAY is that I can get them in used condition, so they cost less than 1/2 what they cost in the stores. A CD of a book helps me go to sleep every night, so I go through them rapidly. By buying them on EBAY,I can afford to used novel to go to sleep every night. This book S is for Silence was a very interesting book, and it was even better since I only had to pay part of the original price. Also, I like getting unabridged versions of novels, but they are usually very expensive, but when I buy them on EBAY, I can have what I like.
Sue Grafton wrote a great mystery with many potential culprits.

I did like this one. I actually listened to the unabridged copy but it was really interesting and took my by surprise when the killer was found. I would suggest reading this one for sure. I am a huge fan of Sue Grafton so maybe I am a tad biased.. but it sure does help me get home on a long commute!!
