You would be silly not to buy this if your looking for a great dash cam and an easy to install kit. Nice camera for about $100
Item is easy to use and comes with a top-quality suction cup. The video is exceptional, with superior video quality. Pictures are also sharp. Instructions are so-so, but the setup is mostly self-explanatory. Item is colored black, so it blends in nicely with my black interior. GPS setup works really well -- the mph readout in the video is really cool.

Great camera when they work, horrible customer service.
I ordered 3 rove r2-4k cameras. One would not read the recommended ad card Rove suggests. I contacted their customer service which can only be reached Via text or email. Both are horrible options. You get the run around. Several days spent texting only to have cs give me the same recommendations to try that didn't work. Great cameras but very poor customer service. But another brand.

Amazingly good features for the price and size
While I have only owned this for one day, my initial reactions are almost entirely favorable. I do have a basis for comparison, as I have previously owned a Crystal Eye Dashcam. Compared to that, this has superior image quality, many additional useful features, and a much smaller footprint that is less of an obstacle to seeing the road. That said, the Crystal Eye has a much better screen; it's larger, brighter, and the correct aspect ratio. Also, the Crystal Eye has a slightly wider camera lens angle. Still, I think the Rove R2-4K is a very nice upgrade compared to my previous Dashcam. For the price, you simply cannot get anything nicer. Pros: Astonishingly clear video in every resolution I tested. Doesn't need to run in 4K to be significantly clearer at playback than my former Dashcam. ... Someone else complained that playback made 55MPH look like 90MPH, to which I can only say that I didn't have that experience. Presumably he was recording 24FPS video which was being played back at 30FPS by his player. I have not tested the built-in player, but can confirm that my clips (including 24FPS) all played at the correct speed in VLC Media Player. The GPS speedometer and position tagging are very nice features, and I already took advantage of the on-screen speedometer when I went for a drive in the dark in an old truck where the dash backlight doesn't work. It can actually run off its internal battery for a few minutes, something my other one can't do, and this allows parking monitoring even if it doesn't have external power connected. The suction mount is very high quality, and the inclusion of an adhesive pad mounting system for permanent mounting, including cable management clips, is a very nice touch, although as the sheepish owner of nearly a dozen vehicles, I'm stuck with suction for now. Cons: The screen is a little weird. The biggest thing that is weird about it is that it is a 4:3 screen in a 16:9 device, so the video preview is distorted (compressed) in the horizontal plane (i.e., things look tall and skinny.) This is not a hindrance to using the device. The screen is not ideal for daytime viewing at a slight angle such as you might typically see it when it is mounted on a window, but it is adequate. Other thoughts: I had no card compatibility issues with my SanDisk flash card, even though the instructions say not to use them. However, this was not a cheap SanDisk; it is U3 rated, so it is claiming to be capable of handling the tremendous volume of data this camera generates, and it seems to be so. Clearly the person who reviewed this as locking up and stopping its recordings was using an inferior card that couldn't cope with the sheer volume of data high-quality chip-encoded video recording generates. Also, take the protective plastic off the lens. It seems so harmless, until you realize that it is creating massive edge distortion by creating a second refraction on the image. I was very disappointed with the image quality until I removed it.

Best Dash Cam I've seen.
This is my third attempt at buying and using a dashcam. The first went straight in the trash as there were no instructions and no way to access it other than with a smart phone app (I don't own a smart phone). The second one came from Best Buy. The geniuses there had no idea how it worked, so it only took me 3-4 hours of experimenting and trial and error to figure out the most basic functions. It seemed to work OK, but the unit would lose memory (date and time) if I didn't drive the car every day, so the files it collected (videos) all had meaningless date/time stamps (also the file name) and files were routinely overwritten before the SD card was full, because every time I did drive, it started saving files with the same name (derived from the date/time which was always ... The Rove was a pleasant surprise. It came with a quick start guide (what a concept!) that had me up and running in minutes. They also included a very nice printed owners manual with everything I could want to know (the BestBuy one had to be downloaded from the internet and was incomplete at best). The menus are intuitive and very easy to use. Except for a couple of menu items or button presses that were not readily apparent (accessing system parameters for instance), I probably didn't even need the manual. The other units did not have a GPS receiver. The Rove has the capability built-in so you always have the correct date/time as well as speed and heading indication in the recording. You can also download a Geotracking app to display your drive route on a map (I don't use this, but it might be nice to have). I can't stress this enough: I bought the Dash Cam to record what happened in case of an accident or other traffic situation. It is very important to me to have the proper date, time, my speed and heading recorded if something happens. If you ever get into a "He said...She said" situation, you want to be able to prove what happened and what your car was doing beforehand. I have 4 vehicles and I put a Rove dashcam in each one. I would not drive without one now.

Very easy to mount and use. I'm fairly tech savvy, but don't like to spend at lot of time fooling around with a simple product as this. Luckily, it is pretty much plug and let it do it's thing. Also very small and unobtrusive on a very cluttered windshield. I've got a Garmin RV nav and a Furrion back and side camera screens also up there. Still no problem with visibility. I'd recommend the Rove to anyone like me that wants the protection of a dashcam without taking a course to learn how to operate the device. Very easy to mount and use.
