It is an 8 inch sub in a little enclosure. If you want window rattling sound then look somewhere else. This product will fill, and compliment the low end notes in music with great results. The construction appears to be tough, and the unit has a heft to it that makes you feel confident it will last. I installed this unit under the passenger seat of a convertible to add depth to my music, and I have to admit that expectations where low based on the price point. This unit continues to impress as it is capable of filling in the lower registries with the top down while cruising at highway speeds. I would imagine that the 10 inch model will hold even lower tones, but space was an issue and the 8 inch is all that will fit. The crossover on the radio is set at 125 Hz with a 12 db/octave curve, and the volume on the unit is set at 50%. This works really well because it will distort at high sound levels (because is an inexpensive, 8 inch speaker, in a really small enclosure). When used as intended the dynamic effect of increased Bass is really pleasant and believe me you will notice from within the vehicle.Read full review

This is my 4th one of these. Not because I love them. Because it just happens to fit so perfectly under my seat. Sound nice, wish they would last longer than a year and 2 months though.. I don't even crank it up very often. Just added to give a little something that my factory 6" speakers can't. This one arrived with the remote gain control smashed.

I have a big van. My family likes to sit in the 3rd row because of the comfort of the plush folding bed and the viewing of the DVD monitor. When it came time for me to upgrade my sound, I didn't want to put a subwoofer in the rear because I don't want to disturb them with the bass. So I needed something compact and no more than about 12" wide so that I could mount it beneath my front seat. After looking at similar types of amplified subwoofers, I went with the Rockville 8". The price is ridiculously affordable, it looks nice and it came with an amplifier wiring kit. When I received it, I was pleased by the compact size of it, it's very shallow. The YouTube video said it was "lightweight" but that's a bit deceiving...it is light, but it does have a solid feel to it. The wiring kit was easy to use because it was the flexible type of wiring which made routing a breeze. The sound of the bass is deep and was more than enough power than I need for the van. Now I can listen to music in the front with bass without much disturbance to the backseat passengers who are watching their movies. Great product, great value, great performance so far!Read full review

There are no mounting instructions whatsoever. Apparently the manufacturer thinks you can figure it out for yourself. The wire kit sold with the speaker is barely adequate. The long line to the battery made it to the fore section of the trunk of my full size sedan with about one foot to spare. Had I not been able to put the woofer box up close to the seat back, a splice would have been necessary which is ill advised and dangerous. The character of the sound is OK but non-linear. This may be due to resonances and complexities of seat mounting and trunk sonic characteristics. None of that is under Rockville control. The unit does seem to turn itself on and off based on the presence of a signal on the speaker line to which it is connected. Whether it will drain my battery even in dormant mode remains to be seen. There is zero chance of fitting this device under any power seat your car might have. The motors are in the way. Read full review

It has been a month.... Was easy to install and gives more bass than my 37 yr old ears want to hear at this stage in life. I listen to all music rap, hip hop, country, rock, classic rock, jazz....ugh all. The sub is under the rear seat of my 98 wrangler, it did not fit under the fronts. It has added depth and much needed volume on those sunny days when the top is off the jeep. For the price i, could not be happier and think you would be a fool to purchase bigger named and twice as expensive similar products. It hits hard and surprisingly deep for it's size. I have had an 18" sub in a buick regal, (back when 2 pac was still releasing records) this is a gentlemans sub.....good impact without telling everyone around to look at you or rob you!!!!
