The finely serrated chuck makes it far better to get a good grip when tightening a bit into the drill and them removing it. This drill has very ample power for most jobs,

Ridgid compact 18v drill
One of the best values in cordless tools in the marketplace today, powerful yet reasonable weight. When purchased direct from Home Depot either in store or online a lifetime service agreement is available including the batteries. Can't beat that with a stick.
