They cut down that loud double-click to a more acceptable level (useful when the rest of the household is sleeping)! Quality is good and they're easy to fit, although they're slightly larger than their older counterparts (in this case - from around the late eighties).

Apparently there is a 25-year guarantee, but there was no paperwork enclosed. This seller was more expensive than the others selling similar products, but those seem to be on extended vacation, so I paid the extra few pounds... wasted :-(
