I bought these for my daughter since she just started school and really wanted to start reading books. While the books are on the small side, the text remains just as large as the regular sized books, making reading the letters nice and easy for her. To be fair, I was picturing the regular Pete the Cat books because I didn't notice the phonics part. I think the phonics version would be dull. However it comes in a nice case. If you are looking for a gift and looking for phonics then this is nice.

Great gift for my granddaughter!
