By now PlayStation 2 and Xbox owners have a pretty good idea of what to expect when it comes to the latest version of their favorite sports franchises. They know the games will look and play pretty much the same as they did the previous year, but there's always the question of what new features. When it comes to NCAA Football 08, the answer to that question is, "Not much." If you've been away from the series for a while or you're new to it entirely, NCAA 08 is worth a look, but there's very little here to warrant a purchase if you already own last year's game.
There is always hype for Madden Football and it is well deserved, but the NCAA football series has long been underrated and relatively unknown. It's made by EA Sports which also does Madden and features much of the same controls as Madden. The major difference is that it is college. The best mode to play is Dynasty where you control the fortunes of your favorite team and try to get enough BCS points to make it to the championship game. For a football geek and gamer, this mode is pure nirvana and I would do it a disservice trying to explain it all. (Plus, I don't have enough space to go over it.) The other really cool thing is that you can import draft classes to Madden 08. The 08 version features your own hall of fame that charts your progress and shows off trophies. The in game commentary can get a bit tedious and mundane, especially with Lee Corso, but Kirk Herbstreit more than makes up for it. If you like football and want an alternative to Madden, than check it out.Read full review
The game is excellent. For anyone looking for a sick college football game you can't go wrong with this one. I haven't even tapped the depths of the game yet. You can create a team/school for dynasty, recruiting players is cooler because you have to keep promises you make to them or they can transfer, but my favorite feature is the created player. you can create a player and you control what they do at school, pick their major, switch your major, go to class, study, or go out to a social event. you practice every and it leads up to game day. like i said, i haven't even tapped the depths of the game yet, you can set school records in career mode so there's always something to shoot for. buy the game and i gaurentee you write a review like i am. and i'm not even getting paid for this, haha.
Althought i do enjoy the game graphics are questionable it appears to be dark after making adjustments on my monitor

It appears that EA got it right this year with NCAA (And Madden 08 from what people are saying that have seen it). The game play is smoother this year, with new tackle features such as air born collisions, new offensive blocking moves, defensive moves, and a load of other game play features and trick plays. Where EA has got it right is expanded on the other game modes such as they dynasty mode, where you can scout players by attending their high school games, as well as play your games online (A feature available before, but enhanced). If you like the extras that come with previous versions of this game, you will love these extras because they are better than ever. Give this game a shot, and if you don't like it you can always trade it in for Madden in a month, but I am betting you will like it enough to keep it around for a while!Read full review
