They feel good to use and the sound is sweet, clear and strong enough for what they cost. They do need more constant tuning, is my only complaint (still do after being on and used for a week) but I'll know better after more time of settling in. A big plus is that the E string hasn't whistled yet. Frankly, I'll take the constant fine tuner adjustments over a whistling E any day!

These strings have a clear midrange tone on them and work well for almost any violin, at least on the student level and better student instrument. They also work great as a fiddle string and give me a much better tone than a steel string but still hold up very well. Break in time is relatively fast and strings should begin to stay in tune with just minor tuning adjustments in about 3 weeks depending on how much they are played. I prefer them over Dominants. I have had instruments that sounded muddy with Dominants but projected much better when changed to Tonicas.

I have been playing on old steel strings for way too long. The change was very dramatic. The Tonicas are thinner and more flexible, so they are easier to play, and the sound is warmer. There is a little less projection, but not too much less. I do feel that violin strings could be less expensive and still be profitable, though.

Nice strings for a good price. If you want your fiddle to have a nice sweet tone and fast responsive action. Try these strings. The price is a bargain.
