I always wanted a pioneer DV-C36 DVD Player Elite player, this is an overall good player.

Considering the original MSRP of $700, these are a bargain at $150 (and often less) used on eBay. I bought mine on eBay for less than $80 a few months ago. Note that it has a 24-bit audio digital-to-audio chip, as does my Creek CD player, and I think the sound quality is very comparable. Bass is solid, mids are well-defined and highs are clear without shrillness. It plays every CD I have loaded, including rewriteable CDs, and DVDs produce a great picture. The remote, with its glow-in-the-dark keys, is easy to use. And although it has nothing to do playback capability, the Urushi (piano black) finish on the faceplate looks rather spiffy: I also own a Pioneer Elite A-35R integrated amplifier: like the DVD-C36, it is more than a cut above the regular Pioneer line. There is some changer noise between CDs/DVDs, and the action is deliberate rather than speedy. Still, the extra seconds or so don't detract from an enjoyable presentation. I am more interested in CDS than DVDs, but the DVD-C36 handles both with identical ease. Recommend it strongly for your audio/video system needs!Read full review
It plays well. I love the option of having a CD and DVD player all in one. I am using it in my office, and it really does everything I want it to do.
