For what it is, the sound is quite good, which is typical for Sony. It's the sweet spot between easily portable and stable with good sound. The one draw back is that, if you operate the unit by batteries, it seems no matter what ones does, the batteries go dead far more quickly than you would ever expect, and good C cells are pricey. It seems the only way to avoid this, would be to take the batteries out between uses. Of course, AC use is fine. Otherwise, nice product.

To call it mega bass is just plain false . It has a fairy good quality of sound and good features but next to zero bass or low end . I ended up adding a good speaker to the output jack so it would sound better .

I always keep a small radio on hand. My large stereo won't pick up am stations. Love this little portable can take anywhere. Excellent to have in case of emergency if power goes off. Plenty of power with this radio and easy to tune, very good reception.. PERFECT! Hope they don't stop making these.

I understand why some seniors could have a problem with the OFF - FM - AM sliding switch as one reviewer complained - they are close together, but I am 71 and have had no problem with it. There are no stations close to me but I am very happy with the strong sound and reception. Would buy again without hesitation.

Its a small solid built radio. I live in a rural area and AM is hard to get,but the little Panasonic does a great job. The large speaker is very plain. All in all I don't think you can beat it for the money. I have two of them.
