This is a very nice powered subwoofer. I owned this model before, and I liked it very much. I ended up selling that one when I sold my car. That was a few years ago. Missing that bass in my current car, I ended up buying an Alpine PWA-S10V. While it was a nice powered subwoofer setup, it didn't fulfill my needs. Plus, the amp is advertised as 250 watt RMS @ 2 ohms, but the sub was a 4 ohm sub. So, the amp was only producing 150 watts. Stupid of Alpine not to match that amp with a 2 ohm sub. So, I ended up buying another RF P300-12. It did not disappoint. Gave me what I was looking for and then some. This sub hits for the type of music I listen to, everything from modern rock, classic rock, classical, old school rap and some modern rap. I will admit this doesn't get that super low bass found on some rap songs since it's a sealed enclosure, but it does quite well for most of my music. I do have plans of replacing this with a custom setup when the weather gets warmer. For now, this will satisfy my bass needs.Read full review

This subwoofer has an switch that allows you to select auto power off when it does not sense signal on coming from the factory car stereo. I purchased this subwoofer for that specific feature. One less wire to run is a great option. I ran all the wires, reassembled my car's interior. The subwoofer sounded great for a coule of trips around town. Then I returned home and turned off my car, the sub started humming/resonating extremely loud. If it would have been night time I would have woken my neighbors. I called Rockford Fosgate tech support and was told the auto sensing feature does not work well and I can return the subwooder if needed. What the Hell?!? After I've purchased the subwoofer and wired everything, they just expect me to return the sub?!? I will be contacting Rockford Fosgate again to complain. This is ridicuolous!Read full review

I purchased this Fosgate with high hopes, and low expectations. I wanted something that could go into my 2013 Taurus, look somewhat stock, and not take up much room. It accomplished those tasks. The fit & finish of the unit is great, and with everything all in one, if you take your time installing it, it can look very clean. The unit integrated with my Ford SYNC system well. I get no humming or odd noises with it, like you would with LOCs in the years past. For reference I have a non amplified factory system. As for the response & performance of the woofer, that's where I was somewhat let down. The frequency range on this does go to Fosgate specs, BUT only at very low volumes. The second you get any kind of volume to it, it goes flat. Basically anything under about 40hz - 42hz is where I'm seeing this drop off. Maybe mine is an oddball. Anything above that, and it sounds great. It's not going to get you a ground n pound win at the next audio competition you go to, it's just there to give your car a little more ass. It will shake your rear view mirror with the right songs. It'll make your kids jump up and down when their favorite song comes on, cause it's vibrating their backs and their butts. It's not going to be like having a JL W6 with 1000 watts to it though. Just keep that in mind when you buy this. All in all, I'm decently happy with the setup. I would get it again. I wish it had more bass, but at the same time, it's not overpowering. My biggest and only real complaint is that you almost always have to control the amount of bass with the included bass knob. Because of its design, and high level inputs, you have to basically set your bass where you want it with the level of volume your running. It can piss you off pretty good, but you get used to it after a few weeks.Read full review
As a 36 y/o man that needed a bit of base in his new ride like the old days when he was younger, I would have to say this fits the bill! I still need to mess around a bit to get it tuned in to perfection now that the speaker it self is broken in. I believe that when it is I will be no less pleased. It is a good cross between what you want and what you need. Basically "Basing Responsibly" I had owned the -infinity bass link- for a while and while the sound quality was nice it was never quite enough. This all in one unit has the extra juice to give you what the bass link was lacking. So between the extra 100w that this unit supplies and the quick release system that makes this easy to remove to reclaim a bit of extra trunk space, I would have to say that this is an excellent buy for the $. You can't easily build this for what they are selling it for. I looked around for a couple days before I purchased. It is currently in a Honda Civic Hatchback. I can't speak for how it would sound in a trunk. I can say that my side mirrors flap and I have to re-adjust my rear view mirror every few minutes if I am in the mood to have it up that high. (Note: I have not turned the amp up more than 1/2 way)Read full review
This thing sounds incredible. i spend a lot of time researching for a good subwoofer with built in amp, and bought a planet audio p8 something rated at 800 watt and 300 watt rms, and its a piece of junk. This Rockford fosgate is without questions one of the best subwoofer. and for the price, believe me, is worth it. Very easy to install. I would recommend this to anybody.
