I bought a used Harbor Freight 12" compound sliding miter saw that came with it's own laser system. After hours of trying to set it up, I finally got it to work as it was supposed to (had to modify the plastic case). Now, 6 months later it quit working and when I took it apart I found the cheap wiring broken and to short to repair. I then remembered I had bought one of these for my radial arm saw and it had worked pretty well so I bought this one. After getting it, I found that it rubbed on the center screw that was part of the guard. I took off the guard and ground the end of the screw down less than a 32nd of an inch and it now works perfectly! So if you own one of these HF saws, this is the better way to go. No more worrying about the screws loosening and it's dead on every time. Just wish it didn't have batteries like the one I had on my RA saw. Get one, you won't regret it.Read full review

Great value if purchased in the US. I had to pay £12.50 duty in the UK and on top of that, it did not fit my Bosch GCM 10 SD mitre saw because, when fitted, it didn't fully clamp down on the saw blade due to the slightly raised spacer on the spindle. I had to take the guide to a machine shop and get them to take a couple of mm off the inner inside surface of the which then sat over the spindle spacer and allowed the outer surface of the guide to clamp down on the blade. Another £10 spent. So all in all it cost me an extra £22.50. I've now got it working and it's just fine but worked out pretty expensive in the end. I just hope it lasts.

This laser guide will always divide opinion - people either think it's a waste of time ("can't see the line", "won't cut where the line shows") etc. Or, it works for you, and when it does, it can speed up your cutting operations dramatically, especially when you've lots of sections to cut. I took a bit of a risk and bought it for my Bosch GCM 800 SJ mitre saw. Nope, it doesn't fit! Major panic, as it wasn't cheap and I was stung for import duties too! After measuring everything, I discovered the centre hole is 10mm and the blade allen bolt on my saw is 6mm. With nothing to lose, I manufactured a small bush on my lathe. I found that a steel bush with an outside diameter of 10mm, and an inside bore of 6mm and an overall thickness of 5.75mm works a treat. Don't make it thinner than 5mm, as it might slip into the void and allow the laser to move out of alignment and don't make it thicker than 5.75mm as it will reduce the grip on the blade, which might slip). Simply fit the bush over the fixing allen bolt, thread through the laser unit hole, then tighten up! Everything works fine. The blade is secure and neither slips nor vibrates. The line is visible and is perfectly on the left edge of the cut. In bright sunshine the laser line is "just" visible, but I live in England so it's not a frequent problem! So, do any of this at your own risk. I did and I'm really happy with the results. Despite having to make a part myself (Oshlun, please provide these, they'd cost you next to nothing and increase sales) I love this product and recently cut dozens of t&g boards without any messing about.Read full review

This is my second Oshlun saw and lazer guide that I am buying as a gift for my brother. I have been using mine on a 10 inch sliding miter saw for some time now and I LOVE it!!! It makes it so easy to see where I am sawing and where the cut will go. I also use it to check the square of the cut by running the saw above a large plastic square clamped to the fence. I will not run my miter saw without one again. I will be buying another for my 7-1/4 inch hand circular saw. Thanks, Canary9

I had seen pro and con reviews but decided to try it. It works exactly as claimed. My only problem was with my DeWalt703. The instruction sheet did not mention the 2 safety cover screws that need to be loosened to get the blade bolt out. That figured out, everything went well. As for others griping about not seeing red in bright light, there is a cheap pair of red filter glasses that allow it to be seen in brightest light. They are sold where laser levels are sold as that is a universal problem. olelj
