The ONLY DAC on the market with IR remote, Harmony remote can also be used.
I use a very simple amplifier for my stereo setup rather than a "old school" receiver with remote switching/volume, etc. I would just leave it at full volume and control the volume with my PC. However, when I recently got a new LG smart TV, I was surprised to find that the only audio output (other than through HDMI) was an optical output. However, the TV remote does not control the volume of this output.
With this device, I'm able to control the volume with the included remote (although I'm now using my Harmony 650 remote, which supports this device). I am also using the coaxial input for another audio source, and it works flawlessly.
Bottom line.. if you're using a simple amplifier that has no remote control, and have an optical output from your source, get this as you will then have remote volume control. If you have a second source with a coaxial (SPDIF) output, then you really appreciate this product as you can switch between the optical and coaxial inputs with the remote also.
