I'm impressed that they've built an excellent flashlight that is barely bigger than its 18650 battery. I can't see how they could have made it any smaller. It's very bright, even without using the "turbo" mode at 1150 lumens. When in "turbo" mode, it heats up quickly, so I avoid it unless I need to light up the whole backyard, which it's quite capable of doing. I like the simple interface, the excellent pocket clip and the grippy knurling on the body of the light. The fixed position of the pocket clip means it doesn't slide around. That makes it easy to find the switch because it's always on the opposite side of the flashlight. That's been a problem with other side-switch flashlights in past when picking them up in the dark. There's a battery indicator in the switch button, but I've never let it get "out of the green" because it's so easy to use the magnetically attached charging cable. Another advantage of the charging cable is that it doesn't need a socket on the flashlight that might compromise its waterproof-ness.Read full review

I’ve had about a dozen Olights over the years and just needed an excuse to try this model. The bright lime green ano and “neutral” white light was enough. Only flaw, the emitter is pretty green at the lower levels, great light besides that.

This is the third Olight flashlight I have owned. I have found all the products I have bought from Olight to be top notch. I like the build quality, the method of recharging, and the brightness and quality of the beam. The only reservation I have about the S2R II is the side switch. I also have an M2R Pro Warrior and the side switch on that flashlight is as good as it gets. It is soft and pliable. It has a nice click when you turn it on and off. It has the little nub in the middle of the rubber to make it easy to find with your thumb. Finally, the LED on that switch is bright and easy to see from any angle. The switch on the S2R II is hard and stiff. It has kind of a numb action - no distinctive feel for when the switch is actuating. There is no nub, so I sometimes fumble around with the light trying to find the switch. And the LED on this light is faint and kind of hard to see if you are looking direction at the top of the switch - to the point where you can't even tell it is on in regular lighting. One problem I've noted with the S2R II is that the switch gets really stiff when you have the flashlight out in the cold. I live in Wisconsin and it has gotten down to -20 F this winter. A couple of weeks ago I was outside getting firewood, using the flashlight for my lighting. After the S2R II had been exposed to the cold for a few minutes it took an inordinate amount of pressure to make the switch turn on and off. I have't testing the M2R in the cold yet, but I'm guessing the problem wouldn't be as pronounced since the rubber on that switch is softer. Overall I like the S2R II as my EDC light. It is bright, small, tough, and light. The only flaw I have found, and it is a minor one, is the quality of the side switch.Read full review

This is a good little light. Charge lasts a long time, 3 brightness settings are nice. Can carry it in your pocket and hardly notice it is there....I don’t carry a light all the time, but it is nice to have a small light in such a small package. The charger is hassle free...just stick it on the bottom and it securely attaches to the bottom of the light via the magnetic feature..no fumbling with usb plugs etc. Recommend it!

Light has been dropped several times onto concrete. The clip can be used (effectively) as a head lamp on the bill of your baseball cap and the magnetic charging base is a lifesaver for a diesel mechanic. Light has been exposed daily to solvents such as fuel, transmission fluid, brake fluid, brake parts cleaner and mineral spirits WITH NO DAMAGE even to the rubber button. In short, you need this and it won’t let you down. I care for my things but I put them through their paces and only have room on my person for the best, the baton two fully lives up to that requirement. Only gripe: battery compatibility. One of the main reasons I bought this light is the 18650 battery. I already owned several of them in the standard 3.7 volts, this battery is 3.6 volts My understanding of electronics is minimal so I’m not using my existing batteries with it. That being said the battery life is great, in four weeks I have yet to drop it below 80% with normal daily use.Read full review
