I've had my Nokia 808 Pureview for almost nine months. I've used it as my primary phone for that time and as my only camera. Here is why it replaced my N8-00 as a phone: 1- Very responsive with slow downs and hangs very rare. Nokia Belle Feature Pack 2 (113.010.1507) sails through every task like it always should have. 2- Continues the Nokia tradition of superb sound quality both transmitting and receiving. The speaker phone is clear and loud. 3- Has dropped only two calls and those were in areas where my N8-00 showed no bars at the the same time I was making calls with the 808. The camera is everything Nokia says it is. Never has such a highly hyped product come so close to living up to all the hoopla. 1 - Customization of settings is thorough and far ranging. For most part it is easy to locate and adjust the sensor and software settings for the camera. 2 - The adjustments are meaningful. You make an adjustment and you see the difference in the file. Saturation, Contrast, Sharpness, Brightiness are all slider controlled. 3 - Bracketing of exposure is a three or five shot set with a range of from +-0.3 to +-2.0 stops. This is a real photo saver for static compositions. This is not slider adjustable though the steps are rational. 4 - The lossless zoom is amazing. 5 - Video sound is the best I've gotten from any video recorder I've used. Video is fluid. 6 - Low light photography is still a challenge. Noise remains but is an improvement over the Nokia N8-00 and the Olympus E-P2. 7 - Using the HH-23 to tripod mount the phone allows me to use lower ISO settings and longer exposure for low light shots. It is not perfect. I am still struggling with finding some of the camera settings because of a less than intuitive menu. This was supposed to be improved with the recent v 113 firmware update but it seems to have fixed issues I was not having. With absolutely circular flares in lighting that should not have produced any this device would benefit from a lens hood. The HDMI output to a 16:9 screen is superb. The photos look outstanding on my 47 inch Phillips TV. I've not had any enlarged prints made so cannot speak to how they print. This is a solid device. It is very rigid, very strong and still I can change the battery if need be. Battery life is excellent. I have to recharge daily if I am out on a shoot but with average daily use I can go 36 hours between charges. The music player outputs high quality sound via Bluetooth, FM and the headphone jack. The onboard speaker is loud, clear but has a limited tonal range. This is a large phone. I have been known to use the Nokia N900 as a daily driver so size and heft are not an issue for me. This is a solid item and the weight is worth it for the rigidity. Anyone who wants or needs a truly great camera will benefit from getting this device. It out performs my micro4:3 camera in all but the longest lens shots. It is fast, adjustable and fits in your shirt pocket. I am not disappointed in the performance of this as a phone and I am amazed at how it performs as a media player and camera.Read full review
