The tripod is q bit on the cheese side...kinda wimpy...but the stick seems solid enough. The laser itself is fricking awesome...for me, as a small one man show building contractor in the far north, I have been thinking of buying a laser level for many moons...I finally pulled the trigger and it's been one of those tools that I should have bought years ago....changed my world....ok, enough about that. The laser itself is super easy to use, accurate and seems pretty durable and waterproof! I would recommend buying one of these suckers! Especially if you primarily build by yourself!

This replaced an older laser. New features are great, battery life is 3x the old unit. Slope feature comes in very handy the one time I used it. That one time saved an hour over setting grade stakes and moving the receiver. Set up and usage is about the same as any laser. 5 year warranty puts it over the top for selection. My last laser lasted 12 years, so 5 years should be easy. I would recommend this.

This is the one you are looking for. Contractor grade product. After extensive research this is the best one out there. The ability to set a slope grade with this unit puts it one notch above most others. Very rugged construction of all pieces in this kit. The use of regular batteries makes it very convenient as they are readily available and last seemingly forever.

This is a great rotary laser package for the money. I am a plumbing contractor and we use it mainly to determine if a sewer tap is deep enough to maintain the 1/8" per foot grade we need when running 4" PVC sewer pipe from where it exits the house to the sewer tap at the street. Nothing worse than running a long sewer pipe line and keeping at the minimum 1/8" per foot and then realizing when you get to the tap that you are going to not make it. We shoot the elevation difference do the math and then we know for sure. Only complaint I have is that I wish the buzzer was a little bit louder on the receiver.

I've used cheaper ones and more expensive ones. So far the Topcon is the best value for the money. It's easy to use, accurate, durable, and every bit as dependable as it's more expensive counterparts.
