A larger screen Honeywell thermostat was considered before I decided on Nest 3rd gen thermostat. Unfortunately for Honeywell, the Honeywell thermostat didn't get very good rating for connectivity. With Nest thermostat, it gets annoying sometimes that only piece-meal info (e.g. outside weather info, current inside temperature, set temperature, etc.) is displayed. But after a week or two of use after installation, it's the reliability of the thermostat that is more important than the display. Installation was relatively easy; Nest works out a wiring diagram for me to follow. Overall,no buyer's remorse so far!

This is my 5th Nest I've installed for family and myself. The thermostats are visually great and fairly user friendly. The only issue I had with this unit was that the battery was depleted when received. The battery then took much longer than the 2 hours that I thought it might take - but after a night of charging, it worked as expected. I could not synch the unit to the WiFi until the battery was charged - so that was more stressful than I wanted.

I got one of these for Christmas and had to get one for the other HVAC unit. Very elegant design, very easy to use and so convenient to be able to use the Nest app to control remotely. Also, very cool that it links with Google Home and minis. I can change the temp from the comfort of my bed by giving a verbal command.

Nest 3rd Gen. -- terrific piece of technology with only a couple of quibbles... Pros: sleek, creative button/dial design and display to access functions including fan control; remote access -- even from work! -- and even greater control with the Nest app. Neat fan, cool-to-dry, other options. Cons: Learn function works, but results are not really what I always want? We are not regular enough in our comings and goings, nor am I the only one who comes and goes (or not) for the Home/Away feature to work. Much easier to simply program what you want (once I figure that out -- at least I know how to cancel Learn feature scheduled events in the App) -- better yet, just fire up the App and set it myself anytime I want! Other significant problem just last night, the Nest Service (online, the App depends upon this!) was not available! Why not put "brains" in the Nest so I can control it locally without the online service? Read full review

I purchased the nest 3rd generation for my beach house in FL. I originally was skeptical about the nest. I was not in the market for new home Thermostat. I had meet with some friends last week. 2 of my friends had the nest and said it was amazing. Basically they persuaded me to purchase the nest. Shipping was quick and the price was right. One of my friends came over to install my nest for me. (I’m not mechanically savy) but. I watched him install the unit and I def could have installed myself. The app gave step by step instructions. Here is why I like this nest. Being on the ocean and having a continuous breeze on a hot day. I would get tired of constantly turning up or down the AC. One person is too hot. Another is tool cold. The nest does a really good job of figuring out temperature. And I was able to see how much consumption I was using before. Wow. It was a lot more than I had thought. The nest helps keep a median to my usage as oppose to sharp spikes of usage. I have only had the unit for a week. So I can’t really talk about the long term usage. But I already notice a bit of a difference. Plus. I can be on the sand and can control the inside temp if I need to. That’s pretty cool. Im curious to see how his works when I have family or friends visiting when I’m away from the house. How easily they will be able to control the settings. I bought 2 iPad minis I have my security cameras on the iPad as well as lights fans and now the nest. Hope they can figure it out. Overall. So far so good. No complaints. Most ppl have said the nest is pricy. I totally get where there coming from. But. Just in the one week I have had this nest 3. My usage has been more even. Not so up and down. I wouldn’t be surprised if I have a good $30 saved this month on my bill. I’m curious to find out. I would recommend anyone to give this a try. Originally I was looking at the nest E. The nest E was cheaper. But lacked some features the nest 3 offered. That’s why I went with the 3. Glad I did Read full review
