I have owned and used this little gem for a few days with my Fender Passport Conference PA system. This system comes with no phantom power to use my condenser mic when in a bluegrass situation. Some bluegrass players prefer to mic their acoustic instruments . With no phantom power you are not able to use the type of condenser mic I use. SOLUTION, This NEEWER 48V Phantom power supply with power adapter and xlr cable to the rescue. I plug this in the PA with the mic cable and the power adapter plugs into my power strip, hook up the cable to the mic and turn the power on and set my volume and I am ready to make music. I have a total of 3 channels with XLR connections on my PA system. To add phantom power to the other 2 channels, I can either get 2 more of these units or go with a NEEWER 2 channel phantom power unit that can cover 2 channels in one unit. For a band situation that is what I would do. Then you are ready to hook up a total of 3 condenser mics on a little system. This will work great for a bluegrass band in a small venue. This setup will give players a lot more room to deal with. I hope that will answer any question a bluegrass musician might have about using this with a similar type PA system with no built in phantom power. NEEWER to the rescue for this application. NEXT thing. This is not a direct box. This is NOT a pre amp. This is phantom power supply to power up your condenser mic that requires an external phantom power source. IF your PA system has no phantom power then you are purchasing the right product to do the job. This is a great little compact unit that can fit in a small gig bag with all your other gear you take to the gig. IF you are like me you want to go compact as possible so this is a great unit for my uses. There is pilot light LED to let you know the unit is on when you push in the power switch. On the other side is where your mic cables go and the place to plug in the power supply. Just like using an effects pedal but only using XLR cables. Real easy to use. This works great too. Can also fin on a pedal board if you happen to have one of those. IF you still need ideas or to see this in action, you can find some YouTube videos for additional reviews. Read full review
