Sam Kinison DEFINITELY departs from his Pentecostal preacher roots to become the "slash and burn" comedian that rants throughout "Live From Hell." It is vivid, gritty, and, at times, over-the-top offensive. Kinison goes right to the edge of comic sensibility and leaps into the flaming abyss. His dark humor is evident at all points of the CD, but most particularly when he gets into a tirade because his producer advises to end the show. At that point he spits several expletives and then proceeds to repeat himself verbatim, indicating that his act was scripted. If your sensibilities are easily offended, or four-letter language sets you in a fit, this is not the CD for you. It is, at numerous times, laugh-out-loud funny, but Kinison's anger and societal defiance sometimes gets in the way of his humor. If you love to hear everyone from Captain Kangaroo to the homeless verbally crushed, you'll love Kinison's riffs.Read full review
The final of four albums/cds of sam Kinisons concert performances. He is back and in top form. For those who may have been divided with his Leader of the Banned album which one side had stand up and the second half were a bunch of covers of classic songs. This new album released after his untimely passing. Get a copy and remember why he was such a force in comedy.
