My daughter loves the Nancy Drew games. She started by getting one from the local Wal-mart and tries to find each new one there is. You play Nancy Drew as you go through different buildings and figure out who you must talk to or what you need to do to move on and figure out the mystery. The Nancy Drew PC games are fun for girls and doesn't take a big gaming system to work. The only thing that we didn't care for as much about this particular game was that it seemed much easier than the first ones that we played and my daughter finished it in record time.
This Nancy Drew Game creates a neat atmosphere and mood, snowed in a castle with a tower imported from France. There are lots of puzzles and rooms to explore. I really enjoy the story line of Marie Antoinette's lost journal. The things you get do do in this game are also lots of fun, like getting out of a stuck elevator and finding secret passageways.
Compared to the other PC Nancy Drew games, this one is one to avoid. Even though I am probably not the world's greatest detective, I was never able to solve this mystery! (Keep in mind that I have successfully solved several of the other Nancy Drew games.) The plot was boring and not as rich in history as some of the others, like Scarlet Hand, Haunted Mansion, and Shadow Ranch. Had the story been more interesting, I probably would have stuck with it. If you do play Nancy Drew games, know that the HER interactive website contains a discussion board that can help you when your stuck. Despite the hints, I still couldn't make it through. It was a lot of time wasted for an unsatisfying ending.
I've played almost all of the Nancy Drew PC games and this is definitely the best. It had so much depth to it. And the game seemed to keep very accurate to the historical events of Marie Antionette's life. The setting of the game is fantastic... snowed in at a spooky castle full of history. Doesn't get much better than that.
Very realistic. Great graphics. Challenging enough to keep 10 year old interested. Great game for a parent and child to play together. Lots of fun, but also lots of decision making needed. Well worth the money.
