I bought this for my TAN16C Takamine and it works great with the CTP-2 Cool Tube Preamp in the guitar. The only con was it did not come with a cable to hook up to the preamp but all you have to do is solder a male RCA plug on the cable that comes with the pickup and you in business. I would recommend the M1 passive unless you like a lot of pickup on the body for percussive effect which I know a lot of players do but I did not need that. I get enough of that through the bridge pickup. Being able to blend the two pickups with the cool tube is awesome.

The LR Baggs M1 is very well built and installs easily. The sound quality needs discussion. It's very design feature creates a feedback prone condition at least with a Fender amp. The M1 is intended to somewhat replicate a guitar being mic'd. Mission accomplished, however, the sound to me is perhaps a little too metallic and microphonic. That's where the word subjective comes to play. Just be sure that a good return policy is in place or there is the opportunity to audition the unit before your purchase. The quality is top notch, There is only one design flaw. The mini jack is located on the low "E" end which causes the removable cable to cross under the strings which could which interfere with playability. I'm being picky but hopefully you can decide what is important to you from my observations.Read full review

The product was an easy install if you are careful and follow directions. The kit makes it easy. Just a 1/2 inch hole is the scary part--drilling into your precious guitar. The rest is a snap. The sound is great. You might need a pre-amp DI if you use line out on the guitar to a sound board to adjust the gain so the sound board can read the weak signal. The sound is incredible. It took about 15 minutes, but I have done the procedure before many years ago. Worth every penny.

I'm very happy with the M1A LR Baggs magnetic pickup. The installation was straight forward, and I had no problem doing it myself. I must give credit to the many available videos demonstrating the process which I found on YouTube. Most importantly, the natural sound of my acoustic guitar is truly amazing. I highly recommend this pickup!!!

Mine sounds awesome only slight grumble was I got a 1/4 inch stereo to 3.5mm headphone jack adaptor stuck in the output, which needs to be pulled away slightly for it to capture the sound, but it stays put pretty well when you eventually make this discovery, it may be I have picked up this dodgy adaptor from somewhere, or that it is only designed for mono 1/4 inch output, once you find this out it works wonders! You can hear it on my website. Giles Shingler
