Just got the guitar today, Very Impressed so far, it's very light for its size, the Pickups are Pretty weak and need potted but have a decent sound, I lowered the action a little and it plays pretty well, I'm going to sand the fingerboard or use some steel wool on it because it's really gritty feeling when bending strings, I really like the shape of the neck, the Body of the guitar is smaller than a regular Explorer and ends up looking a little more like a toy guitar on Me but might be nice for someone who's not 6' 5" Like I am, I have some new pickups I'm going to install, and I'll be replacing the tuners also, they hold tune ok but they're not very responsive, For the Money I don't think you could buy a better guitar with a case, a beginner would love this and not have to do a thing to it, Pretty Sweet Read full review

Case is great. Body shows lots of places where the finish isn't really great, but at this price point it's not a big deal. The pickups are totally weak, I replaced those already. The neck just doesn't feel good to play. I'm going to take some scotch brite pads to the neck and get some of the gloss off to see if that doesn't make a difference. The pots are tiny and I'm not sure if there's room to put full size ones in the cavity, but I'll probably give that a shot in the future. This is NOT an expensive guitar and really, for what you pay with a case you get a decent platform for upgrades, but it's not really a great guitar out of the box.

I bought this in the belief it was a jazz master size and style body based on the ad, but it is actually a smaller, tight-waisted offset format and is also a much paler blue in the wood than it looks in the pics. I also expected a lightweight basswood body but this has real heft despite the small size. All that said, I rather like it and for the money it is astonishing value. I cleaned up the frets (fretwork was pretty low quality) and put Tonerider pickups in and it plays nicely with a real light, jangly tone. Was originally just buying it for parts, but i think i might keep it…!

Hardware typical of the price range, functional. Was expecting universal import "C" neck profile, arrived with a vintage "V". Very happy surprise. The tone of the body/neck combo is resonant and sustains well... sweet. Plastic nut (import string spacing!) and chromed saddles get replaced. Everything lines up exactly, truss rod holds set. Good value.

Looks great that's why I get it. I knew going in that the pickups were not the best and plan to switch them for a true fender neck PU, and a Gretchen filtertron at the bridge. Playability, well, it needs to be set up and frets need to be dressed. Neck is suprisingly straight All in all it is what it is for $160 but when I am finished it will be perfect.
