THE GOOD: Excellent clarity; not just good bass response but great midrange, too Good noise isolation --not the best on the market but top-tier for sure Almost peerless volume capability; THESE CANS CAN GET LOUD Extremely sturdy construction --these headphones are built like a tank; the detachable cord even screws in THE BAD: Aesthetically unpleasing --these headphones are very bulky and sit somewhat awkwardly off the head Uncomfortable --these are among the most painful headphones I've ever warn. I start to get jaw pain after ten minutes. Price --these headphones can run upwards of $200, and they're not that much better in terms of sound than the ATH-M50x; certainly they're not worth $200 Leakage --they leak a little bit at high volumes THE BOTTOM LINE: Buy these headphones if: 1) you're looking for loud headphones 2) you're looking for headphones with lots of bass 3) discomfort doesn't bother you 4) bulkiness doesn't bother you And, most importantly: 5) you find them for $100 --Honestly, because these headphones are so sturdy and capable of handling such high volumes, it would be a good idea to buy them used. They're built to last and don't show wear. If you can't find these headphones at a good price, look into other brands like Sennheiser (for better comfort), Grado (for more bass), or Aiaiai (for better looks). Consider also the ATH-M50x. All headphones that cost less than $500 are going to have some trade-offs. With these headphones, comfort and style are compromised in the name of bass response, sound clarity, volume, and durability. This is a good compromise, but note that these headphones aren't perfect. Also, if you lose one of the included cords, the fact that they screw in means you will have to order a compatible replacement cord from china. Regular male-to-male audio cords don't click in place.Read full review
Let me first start off by saying that whatever you have read about these headphones are probably true. They are awesome! However after you modify them a bit. First I needed to to place cotton balls under neath the ear pads because they were uncomfortable. Your ears will touch the drivers of the headphones and the padding isn't soft. They are meant for DJs so they aren't built for comfort. Your able to listen for about 2-3 hours without having too many comfort issues. However I decided to buy the Audio Technica ath-50 ear pads as a replacement. These make A LOT of difference and you should buy them from get go. Second the base in these headphones need an amplifier. At least for my tastes. I bought the Fiio e11 headphone amp and it does exactly what is needed. Perfect bass, highs, and mids are achieved now. I would suggest these over a lot of headphones if you like bass and clear sub sound.Read full review
The ATH-PRO700 MK2 are a great pair of headphones for those who enjoy bass. The bass is felt, but does not overpower the mids or highs, which I did find surprising. The only main concern I have is that these cans are slightly genre bias, but for the most part, everything sounds very clear. One more thing to note is that these do tend to start hurting after around 45 minutes of constant use, but I believe that issue can be resolved by swapping the stock pads for some ATH-M50 pads, which should do the trick.
Excellent headphones! Strong and deep bass (like a sony), can be used with mp3-player (im use cowon i10 + amp fiio e11). But Earpad can be larger... a bit not comfortable. But, anyway, great!
