I really like this album. I must admit that I am both a Weiland fan and a huge Christmas buff so it would be hard for me not to like this album. Regardless, I don't think you can argue that vocal-wise he sounds pretty good. What might throw some people is that there are many "artistic liberties" taken and many songs are not in their traditional form (yes, reggae "O Holy Night" and "Silent Night, as well as a jazzed up "What Child is This?") but honestly, I'd much rather have Scott do something original than imitate something that's already been done. If I want to hear how The Drifters sang "White Christmas", I'll listen to The Drifters singing "White Christmas". Nevertheless, there are several more traditional sounding songs on the album, such as "I'll be Home For Christmas", "The Christmas Song", "White Christmas" and of course must have IMO, "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas", though I liked the version he performed on Leno last year more.Read full review
