I loved this story. I grew up in the fifties and felt uncomfortable in the rigid perimeters of what was to be defined as "a girl" -" a boy" - "a wife" -" a husband" - no matter what subject - there were rigid guidelines - expectations - a seriousness that pinpointed every facet of life. The freedom of the 60's had not hit. We were in the world of conformity that was suppose to keep us all in a controlled society -We were rewarded with a respect when we accelerated along this path- looked down upon when we didn't - so much more than we are today. This movie epitomizes every part of that world than expands upon it by introducing 2 characters who just don't fit in .What makes this so believable ? They stay within that 50's mentality just enough to fit in to the era but create a passionate alternate quest of 2 lovers seeking a relationship that they alone could have. Everyone else who comfortably fall into their lives are thrown into a conflict and each and every character must make a choice to how they must react to the 2 unpopular young lovers . What a great - funny - thoughtful - change of hearts ! - The island, full of interactions, explodes as a hurricane hits their island. A great movie if you don't mind veering from the movies your use to seeing .. enjoy a unique art form from a director who gives his movie a definite beat that carries you through the story in a dry - methodical - just" to true to reality" - that reveals the quirkiness of our every day lives .... sit back... and enjoy the 50's revisited !Read full review
A brilliant satirical comedy about how a love affair between two 12 year old kids throws the world into a snit. Acting is first-rate and the script is cleverly written. You cannot go wrong if you are looking for very entertaining social satire. The girl's parents are lawyers who use bullhorns to communicate with one another--I could not stop laughing and then I was crying from how funny Wes Anderson can be. *****5-stars J. The movie stars Bill Murray, Bruce Willis and Ed Norton in three unlikely characters that each actor would play. I can't really tell you about the movie because then you wouldn't want to buy it. But it is very family-friendly and engaging and very sweet.

I loved every bit of this enchanting "out of the box" romantic adventure film. So clever, so visually stimulating. This is what movie, great movie making is all about. Never a dull moment, something for the whole family, and anyone who lived during the mid 1960s. A film to be bought, cherished and watched in regular rotation. In case I didn't mention it... I loved it. Cheers, Max Rainet A movie lover for life.
Another very well directed film by my favorite director. His skill amazes me and his cast is and are always great.
