I made the decision to go electric with my lawn/garden power tools about a month ago. After looking at Youtube videos of tool comparisons, the Milwaukee line of M18/Fuel tools were consistently rated tops. Some even bettering gas powered tools. This string trimmer is the second purchase of a Milwaukee battery operated tool. On arrival I fully charged the included 9.0 amp battery before testing it out. Testing it out on some overgrown weeds and grass around the house resulted in quick work of the offending weeds. The string advance works very well, although I'll be changing to a .095 string when the loaded .080 string is used up. I like that if needed, I can just lay the tool down and it doesn't dance around like gas trimmers do. I tried both speeds out on grass, and got excellent results with both speeds, and I like the fact that speeds are adjustable with the trigger. Best part I don't have to keep anymore 2 cycle fuel around just getting in the way.Read full review

I HAVE AND LOVE MY MILWAUKEE M18 FUEL - 1/2 HAMMER DRILL- 1/2" IMPACT-7" POWER SAW-SAWSALL- AND FINALLY CHAIN SAW. THIS PRODUCT UNDER PREFORMS AT LEAST WITH LIGHT WEIGHT STRING THAT COMES WITH BARE TOOL. I AM GOING TO BUY THE HEAVIER STRING THE TOOL WILL TAKE- IN MY GAS UNITS THAT HAS A DRAMATIC IMPROVEMENT WITH PROFORMACE. I HAVE HIGH STANDARDS FOR TOOLS AND WITH LIGHT STRING THIS ONE DOES NOT MAKE IT. I HAVE BOTH 9AH AND 12AH BATTERIES TO USE WITH TOOL. AGAIN EVERY OTHER TOOL IN THE M18 FEUL LINE HAS OUT PROFORMED TOOLS LIKE DEWALT HANDS DOWN. SO THE YES RECOMMEND IS IF YOU HAVE LIGHT TRIMMING TO DO AND DO NOT LET GRASS GET OVER GROWN. AS FAR AS VALUE THAT COULD CHANGE WITH THE SIMPLE CHANGING OF STRING. HAVE ONLY USED TWICE.

This tool is longer and heavier than I expected but seems very heavy duty, more like a commercial tool than homeowner grade. Still getting used to the weight, but I like it. I bought my daughter a very small, lightweight Ryobi weed eater that is perfect for her. But this tool I'm sure will outlast it. My yard is pretty small so takes less than ten minutes to wack all the weeds, so can't say much about the battery longevity. But I'm sure it lasts as long as any other comparable brand (Milwaukee was the first company to put circuitry on a Lithium Ion battery, which is why I have 2 that have lasted me ten years and are still going strong), and have decided that cordless is the way to go. I gave away my old gas trimmer which was having carburetor problems, leaked fuel and was always greasy looking.Read full review

I am completely happy with this string trimmer. I had purchased a set of Milwaukee M18 tools for my husband. He was so pleased with them that I then purchased the hedge trimmer. I do most of the trimming and our gas powered trimmer was just too heavy for me to use for an extended period of time. I ordered this trimmer since we already had batteries and charger. I love it! So much easier on my arms and quieter too but it has all the power I need and does a fantastic job.

I love this tool. I have a full line of other Milwaukee m18 products so of course I bought this. I was sceptical because it's battery powered, but on high speed it's the closest thing to commercial power as you can get. I use it on low speed because it is more than strong enough for yard work. A+ product.
