Great tube. Theres always a ton of speculation weather or not Mesa makes good tubes. Granted Ive had a Mesa power tube fail on me before, but thats because i was improperly using them in a amplifier. But overall, u want to relax a part of your preamp a little bit, or run it as a reverb, loop efx, or as phase inverter tube, i would recommend this tube. Its a little bit of a colder gain tube but it still has that warmth and clarity of your running it as a preamp tube for tone.

You can't go wrong with Mesa Boogie anything. I love these tubes. My mark 3 simul class amp sounds great with them.

I recently purchased a 20 year old Peavy Classic 30 amp at a good price (thank you eBay). The vendor placed a great set of tubes in it: JJ's for the power section and Electro Harmonix tubes for the preamp. I had the headroom but not the warmth and tone I wanted. I Love Jazz and own a very nice. old archtop guitar. I placed two Mesa Boogie AX7's in V2 & V3 and a Mesa 12AT7 in V1 (these are all PREAMP tubes). WOW. My Epi Paul sounds fat and nasty. My 335 can range from a BB King to a Pat Martino sound. My archtop gets those beautiful Joe Pass chords just right. Now this may not work for new amps (new C30's are made just for rockers and head bangers). But if you want a warm, clean, old amp sound try this out.
