This is my first Marshal amp head so I cannot compare to a tube amp. But the sounds I'm getting out of it through my Marshall 1960a cabinet are on par with anything I've heard from any integrated amp. Each of the 100 preset sounds can be tailored for pre-amp, reverb, modulation, etc. and the foot switch is a nice way to change from one sound to another. Connecting my phone via the Bluetooth feature took about 15 seconds and there is even a built in tuner for a guitar. For the money I think it's really hard to beat.

i don't usually play solid state or digital amps but needed one for practice at home. This is really a good head with a good variety of effects albeit all digital. But it sounds good and actually records very well. i actually tracked a guitar track with it's "American" clean channel miked through a 4x12 cab. I will always be a valve amp person but i must say that i am impressed. The iPhone app makes it easy to control the head from a distance too and dial in a great tone. Bottom line as well... you can't bea the price. Great amp for beginners to even pros in certain applications.

I like modelling amps. I needed a cheap one. This one seemed like worth trying. When I got it and hooked it up, it could not have sounded any worse. First thought, send it back. But I don't give up that easy. I tried to analyze the problem. why does it sound bad. Well its noisy and harsh! Ok dial out the noise. as it turns out, the noise is caused by to many effects set too hot at the factory . turns those parameters to 0 and presto, noise gone! next start at ground zero and build your sound. Go to you tube and watch the 12 min video tutorial. once you get it you will realize that this amp is the best bang for the buck you will ever get. I am getting tones that are jaw dropping both clean and gain. I love this Thing!!!! (pro player of 40 + yrs)

The sounds & features of the CODE are outstanding. 99 presets are a little overwhelming. Just take some time to figure out your best 8 to 10 and tweak them as needed. I've had the head for about 2 weeks now and really enjoy it. Using it with the Marshall Code 4 x 12 cabinet. The head is plenty loud and would work for gigging. I have the Code upgrade foot switch as well. I recommend the CODE series.
