I am a pro carpenter (26 years) and have the corded reciprocating saw made by Makita. Wanting a quick compact model for demo and small jobs, I decided to buy the battery powered unit once it went brushless. Wow This thing is very solidly built, has plenty of power and holds the blade well. I would say that other than oscillating stroke not included (like my JR3060T) it is every bit the saw the corded version is. Battery life is decent with a 4.0Ah and ok with a 3.0Ah. I don't own a 5.0Ah battery so can't comment on run time using that. I'm currently using it on a whole house demo (gut and remodel) and have put it through the paces. So far, it has done anything / everything I demand of a corded saw. Don't hesitate if you're unsure of it's capabilities, it's a great unit.

I have received this request for a review but haven't received the product yet. Probably due to being in a different country. sorry nothing to report yet. no options to give a realistic reply without rating or recommending it ??? Looking forward to receiving product to review. Answers and review above are only on reputation and experience of Makita products. I have purchased from this supplier previously and have had no issues with the products supplied. i hope I can rate this product higher once I am able to evaluate it.

Slight wobble on the shaft that holds blade compared to my original japan made version, but I just have to have that brushless motor. Has that sexy brushless motor sound and feel when you squeeze the trigger, variable speed trigger of course. Has speed and power. I used it right away to cut some roots out of my dirt driveway that always annoy me driving over. It's a little smaller and lighter than my brushed version, and of course the battery lasts way longer with the brushless motor.

This is a great saw! It has as much power and is the same size as my plug-in saw. I went to a battery model as I remove ash trees that are not near an outlet. 6 amp batteries last about 15 minutes as I am cutting the roots of small trees, 4 to 6 inch diameter, with tree blades. I dig all around the tree which allows me to rock the tree back and forth eventually swinging the tree like a reverse pendulum. Once it swings out far enough the remaining roots under the tree snap and down it comes.

I had another brand AC model sawsall and the blade guard broke and it was very expensive to replace it so it was placed on the back shelf. This Makita is a delight to use, plenty of power and it is cordless, what else could you want.
