Our man, Jeff, is a ruff man but good in the heart. He got manhandled by his lessers but was given an opportunity to have a new identity and huge heritage in California, if he could keep his cool. He did and by doing it his story makes one of the very best, if not the very best, short stories Louis L'Amour ever wrote. As Michel Latch our hero Jeff saves a beautiful ranch for it's legal owners by fighting the evil elements with a clever wit and hard fists and blasting silver plated hand made guns. The excitemnent is constant and especially in an audio book form the story is phenomenal. The at least four different versions of audio books emphesize on different aspects of the saga but they all are worth the time listening them over and over again. Personally I like the 1980es dramatization the best with most details. Willie Nelson did this one as well but the story was rewritten and mangled a lot. All the versions, including the original book, bring aditional features to the story line. Highly recommended, excellent book in any form!Read full review
