I found this to be an excellent documentary of the complete story from the beginning in the 1930's to the present. It covers the early comics, early cartoons, Superman, Superboy, Supergirl (although I wish she would have gotten more time...), Kirk Alyn, George Reeves, Gerard Christopher, and the whole gang. It had some great commentary from Noel Neil and Jack Larson. It also touched on the "mysterious" death of George Reeves. It, of course, had a good bit on Christopher Reeve with some of the auditions of other actors. It even had segments on The Return of Superman and an interview with Brandon Routh. I can't imagine any collection not having this DVD to go along with the other materials that are now available. For a novice as well as someone who has "flown" with a towel as well as in their dreams, this disc will be a treasure to view over and over!Read full review
This engaging and very well produced 2006 documentary (directed by Kevin Burns) about the Superman legend / phenomenon (call it what you will) tells the story of this superhero in all of its formats from its creation by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster right up to the Bryan Singer's own film 'Superman Returns'. "From comic books to radio shows. From TV to blockbuster motion pictures.". I found it very satisfying.

Well....after I saw Superman Returns, I'd wanted to see some more of Clark Kent's adventures and decided to go watch the Lois and Clark seasons with Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher. But....I also wanted to learn about the history of Superman; considering he's been around for decades. This story which I found online gives a very good insight into the importance and deeper meaning of Superman and the many men that have played his character over the years. I think this was a great DVD and I definitely recommend it.
Interested dvd telling the "behind the scenes" of the past Superman movie, the decisions used to pick the Supermans, the lives of those actors, etc. It's a complete history, including the origin of the characters and the process from pen to paper to movie and tv. It includes the producers' comments, as well as the actors'. It's the only movie I've come across with this information. Any Superman fan would find this movie a much have!
