I purchased these headphones so I could listen to music while working out. I have a couple of pairs of earbuds for general use, and both of these (Altec's Backbeat Plus, and a pair of Ultimate Ear SuperFi 3) have far better sound. Neither of the earbud sets works for workign out, especially when running or other cardio work. The Sennheisers fill this void quite well. Keep your expectations real with these headphones. The in-ear design doesn't seal out ambient sound, so the volume and quality of the sound that you get is limited. They do sound pretty good for the type, though, just not spectacular. Again, my expectations aren't for studio quality sound--I just want a decent sound, a reasonably comfortable fit, and a stable platform. Again, these headphones are near-perfect for these criteria. They aren't the most comfortable, though the edge–on fit is typical of the type. They aren't painful unless you press them into your ears, but again, that's kind of unrealistic. Overall, I think these phones do what they're designed to do, and not much more. For the price, the type, and the use for which I bought them, I think they're a great purchase.Read full review
The sound quality is fine on these headphones. I bought these for the gym for primarily weight training. What I did not like was that the headphones really get in the way when you do exercises that touch the back of your head to a any bench type of equipment at the gym. This is beacuse the headphones stick out a bit on the back of your head since they are wrap-around the head design. I typically have bought inexpensive wrap around the ear headphones but was looking for something with a bit better sound quality then previously purchased. I ended up giving them to my daughter and she intends on using these for running which is probably a better usage model for this design.
I like these headphones and would buy them again for under $30 including shipping. I would not be willing to pay more than that. THE GOOD: 1. they stay in your ears super securely at all times (for running they are excellent, you never need to slightly or periodically adjust them.) 2. They look cool and have a quality feel to them. 3. the sound quality is very good (but not really discernibly better then the $10 Sony headphones that you can buy that have the band going over the top of your head instead of behind it.) THE BAD: 1. the tension of the band pushes the phones into your ears in a strong way that is not comfortable (I tend to not notice that when I am running, however.) 2. the cord is a little on the long side (longer than standard Ipod headphones and the extra cord gets caught up in stuff sometimes where regular Ipod headphones wouldn't.) THE BOTTOM LINE: the $10 Sony's sound basically just as good and are considerably more comfortable to wear but these headphones stay secure in your ears considerably better and are sleeker looking but just not very comfortable.Read full review
I was looking for a pair of headphones to use with my iPod when I ride my bike. Standard ear buds didn't stay in well with my helmet. I had seen and researched these headphones on Apple's site as well as Amazon, but found the best deal by far here on ebay. The sound quality is not quite as robust and full as it it with some other ear buds that I have, but that's not an issue when I'm riding my bike. What was more annoying was when my ear buds used to "pop out" during a ride. These drape over the ears and wrap around the back of the neck. The fit is good, and quite secure. Pretty comfortable as well. For what I was looking for, I've been very happy overall with the Sennheiser PMX 80 Sport II Headphones.
I am an avid runner and am fairly picky about headphones. I've tried a lot of different types and the behind the head are the best by far, in staying put when running. The PMX 80 though are not very durable. I went through 2 pairs this year. The first set the cord part into the plug would not make contact and the right head phone stopped working, or would cut in and out all the time. The second pair the cord going into the headphones pulled out. The cord on the PMX 80 is hard to describe. The PMX70 series that I've had for years the cord is flexible. The PMX 80 wants to coil up and has some sort of finish on it so that it does not dangle freely.
