This is a solid, heavy quick-access box that does what it is designed to do. This is not really a "safe" that will keep a determined thief from forcing it open, although that would require substantial effort. I bought it to provide a means to quickly retrieve a handgun for home defense, while keeping it secure from grandchildren and visitors in my home, and it does that very well so far. Once programmed with your fingerprint, and those of any others you want to have access to your handgun, you only need swipe your index finger and the front of the box pops open forcefully and quickly. A red light indicates if you "mis-swiped" and you can immediately swipe again. A big selling point is the AC adapter that allows you to operate the safe without wondering when the battery will run out, and the 9V battery acts as a backup should your home power go out. It has a tiny LED light inside that doesn't provide much light, but really serves no purpose as you can feel your handgun without it in the dark. There's plenty of room to reach inside and remove a handgun without bashing it on the door edges.. There is enough room inside for two full-sized handguns or one handgun and a couple of extra magazines with room to spare. You must read the directions carefully and be patient setting it up initially, as the directions could use a little streamlining. There is a help number to call if you get stuck. I've had the Liberty HDX-250 for a few weeks now and have been practicing with it often to ensure it works and that I can operate it smoothly. I've had no issues to date. I believe the price was reasonable for what the product offers. The reason I didn't give it five stars is that I haven't owned it long enough to attest to its durability, and Liberty really should join the 21st century and provide a link to a clear instructional video demonstrating the product setup.Read full review

I spent over 2 hours trying to get a acceptable finger swipe, finally one of my 4 fingers was accepted. When trying to open the safe the accepted fingerprint was only recognized about 5 percent of the time the rest I had to use the key. This left me with a terrible feeling knowing what I need is inside that safe but, I can not access it. I DO NOT Recommend this safe for quick access for self protection devices. I did call Liberty's customer help line and the rep was helpful, he stated that many fingers do not swipe well and you have to keep on scanning until the safe opens, what good is this?

Liberty bought company that makes these. Features are grea - JUST DON'T BET YOUR LIFE ON IT! - they fail very quickly. The springs pushing door open are weak across all models, and your safe then has to be pried open. Surprised Liberty hasn't forced company to fix it, since I've spoken to Liberty (in Utah) and the company (in midwest). Great product, if they'd just fix whole line.

When o first got it the instructions were good and clear. A little hassle for the D9 battery insert. And some trouble getting the finger print set up. One thing I would like to note is that while I didn’t expect it to be silent I didn’t expect the load mechanical sound heard in the brief moment before the door pops open. I was under the impression that it was more quiet than that is all. Still good quality and set up was easy even for a first timer like me.

This safe was easy to set up, and worked just as advertised. It facilitates instant access while preventing unauthorized acquisition of your firearm. I recommend securely bolting it down and making it difficult for it to be found or removed. I feel this is a great step contributing to responsible firearm ownership.
