This reel is quality and leaves nothing really to be desired. Casts smooth, casts quiet, casts a mile. Haven't had a single issue with backlash. Reeling is effortless, seems like I didn't have to play the fish as much on heavier ones, reel did the work. Drag is solid when you kick it in on a hook set and feels responsive. It's low profile and easily fits in smaller hands. The braking system is simple and effective, easy adjustments on the fly for different lures. No needing to pop open the side plate, just spin the knob. One or two clicks is usually sufficient when increasing braking, it's not like lower end casters where you need 9 clicks to feel the affect. I typically fish in the 7/16-1oz lure range (mostly largemouth) and find that 2 clicks past "free" offers sufficient braking power, while still being able to thumb it on the cast, so this reel still offers plenty more braking for heavier stuff like spinners. Don't have a single complaint about the reel, will be buying more and would recommend to anyone from beginner to pro.Read full review

This is my fifth Lew's reel with BB1s and BB1 Pros rounding out the rest. I use this reel on my "do it all" set up with a 7'1" MHF two piece rod which I also use as one of my travel set ups. Just today on a trip to Orlando, I threw T rigged worms, swim baits and a lipless crank bait with this rig. The brake system is quick to adjust and the hook holder.....which at first I didn't use, is now used all of the time and is especially nice to have when you are rigged Texas style. Reel will cast a mile and is easy to maintain.

For the money I don't think you can buy a better baitcaster. At the low end cost wise I have 3 different Lews reels (BB1 Pro, Tournament Pro, Tournament Pro G). At the high end cost wise I've got a few Shimano Metanium XGs. The Lews reels perform equal to and even better than the Shimano's in my opinion. Brake adjustment is a better design and the ACB brake system performs as well as SVS. Casting distance with an unweighted Senko with 3/0 hook (about 12 grams) is about the same for both the Metanium and the Pro G but the Lews is less finicky than the Shimano.

Purchased this reel to fish in a local Big Bass Tourney. Paired it with a Falcon Jason Christie Flipping rod and spooled it with 17 pound fluorocarbon Sunline. Used it all day and never had any issues at all. Reel worked as I expected it to, hook keeper is really a nice feature, wish my other reels had this on it. Hooked into a 5.72 # Large Mouth and had no problems reeling it in.

Though having a history with Lew's reels, when the BB1N had it's rein on the Texas coast a good while back, I had not held/used one in a good while. Upon opening the box, admittedly I wasn't impressed with the "dinky" little reel I had purchased. However, after breaking it in for a week in West Matagorda Bay I realized the quality, smoothness and castability Lew's is know for, is still alive and well. I'm very impressed and satisfied with the purchase from the smooth drag to the "1-Click" sensitivity of the centrifugal breaking system. And it's very light and palms well too boot. I'd definitely recommend and will purchase another. I only hope it holds up as well as the BB1N did...
