I always wanted a multi tool, and was caught between a Swiss army/ victorinox and a leatherman. Growing up I had a small Swiss Army knife, it was basic, now that I am older and in the construction field I need something more versatile. While the Swiss army has its place, I think the leatherman is easily adaptable for then construction site. I am not saying that it would replace the professional or specific tools, but why rummage though a bag full of screwdrivers if I could quickly open up my leatherman and get turning. I love the small size, and how compact it is. When on my belt, I hardly know it is there. I can’t wait to try the 21 tool multi tool. 😎

This is a standard Leatherman tool which is quite popular. I personally think they are overpriced compared to SOG which is of equal or better quality and cheaper for what you get. The pliers are not as strong as the SOG. One advantage is the spring-loaded feature, something the SOG does not have. I note the steel is much thinner than on the SOG and the SOG feels better in the hand in my opinion. Tools in the SOG are easier to open than with the Wave. The file in the wave is not nearly as good as the file in the SOG. The sog pouch is also better. Its overall a good tool, but I liked the SOG power assist better with the exception of I would rather have a scissor, like on the wave, than a line cutter which is on the SOG. Another tool worth considering is the Gerber suspension-much cheaper and thicker metal and also works very well. With the new Gerber suspension nXT the old Gerber suspension has become much cheaper and a great value, but smaller than the SOG.Read full review

Great tool, very handy. The knife comes with a razor edge. I mostly use the knives and pliers, though I have used the saw to cut many a PVC pipe that needed repairs, just to not carry a larger saw hiking through the woods to our spring. I have found the quality to be good, and when I damaged it, the warranty was great, a refurbished one, (couldn't tell it from new except for the date stamped in it) no questions asked.

This tool room rocks! I've had three other cheaper leatherman tools in the past. I was carrying a leatherman wingman daily and thought it was nice. Then I got a wave plus. This tool is WAY nicer then the wingman. Much smoother action. All blades are accessable from the outside and open easily one handed. The only beef I have is the pliers/wire cutters aren't spring loaded. That's the only thing I really miss. Otherwise this is the nicest multi tool I've ever had. I'm sure nicer ones exist, but they cost significantly more. FYI I got the pocket clip for pocket carry and it works pretty good. A little heavy but not too bad considering all the stuff packed into this tool.

I bought this one for my wife, I have had my Leatherman Wave since around 2004, I have carried it for a year in Iraq, and nearly 2 1/2 years in Afghanistan. With the exception of me breaking a little bit off the pliers through misuse in Afghanistan, my wave is working just as perfectly as the day I bought.
