Not what I had hoped for ...
As a fan of the original TV series, I was hoping for more of the same that I found with the TV series. TV shows have limitations, as they need to wrap up most episodes in that weeks allotted time frame. While a movie has the luxury of an extended allotment of time for the length of the show, and an extended period to produce, typically allowing for a more well rounded and polished show. Well unfortunately, that's not the case with this production. While Carradine was still engaging as Caine, the feel and writing for this movie was not up to the standards that the original series had achieved. Even the cameos that featured Keye Luke (My Favorite actor from the series) felt poorly written and conceived. This is all too evident as the show interspersed original TV show clips into the movie, ... As a fan of the original TV series, I was hoping for more of the same that I found with the TV series. For me, the show had a darker feel, and lacked much of the simpler , more personal qualities of the original series. The general overall effect was of a hastily written, and produced show, that lacked the polish and fleshed out characters one would expect from a more lavish production. The cheesy special effects only took away from the show, instead of enhancing the effort. I really found that I had to force myself to continue watching the show, in hopes that it would get better. It did, but unfortunately, not by much. For anyone who loves the original series, be warned that you won't find this movie to be a worthy addition to the franchise. It does give you more "Grasshopper" , but it is not done well enough to satisfy my longing for the show I have long adored, I doubt it will do much to quell anyone else's longing's as well...
