Continuing on the tradition of its predecessor, this game is completely unfair to beginner players, frustration source to the intermediate and hard on the seasoned players. It is touted as one of the inspirations for the Dark Souls series so you know it is HARD. There's also the issue with the controls... They are NOT bad... They will take getting used to them because there's no analog stick support so you "aim" by using the shoulder buttons. Also, it takes its control scheme from early FPS' like DOOM so you will need to learn to circle strafe your opponents unless you like dying... A LOT. This game is at the very least twice as big as the previous one, so if you want to really find everything the game has to offer, be prepared to offer it a good 60+ hours... If you know where to look for that is, as deeper explorations depend on the things you find and the weapons/magic/levels you get. Once you get the best gear and have the best magic does it become a cakewalk? NOPE... Unless you cheat, this game won't grant you any reprieve, no matter if you are level 99. Highly recommended if you cannot get the previous versión since it is becoming increasingly more expensive and rare.Read full review

A great & to often over looked action RPG franchise the kings field series stayed true to its unique look, music & game play through its console life span. (the last game coming on PS2 in 2002) You may want to read my review on Kings Field (the 1st US game) as there may be factors of the franchise i dont repeat in this review. KINGS FIELD II, This game recived great critical raves when it was released scoring 8.5 to 10 in most publications. It was often referred to as "great, awsome & engulfing. In Kings field II you return to the land of verdite this time to play prince lyle. A young noble in a quest to discover what evil force has taken over your father. In this adventure you will meet plenty of NPCs (non player characters) to give you information & side quests to keep things moving along & interesting. As with all the Kings Field games it is an action RPG played from 1st person person perspective.(you see the world through the eyes of the main character) The combat is real time with a "contact engine" similar to the game Elder scrolls Oblivion. This game is a bit more open than the 1st KF & the grafics are a bit sharper. But the pace of the game has been slowed along with the field of view being shortened, its a questionable trade off as to whether its better. This is the "KF game of choice" for most of the fans of the franchise. I personally tend to prefer the 1st game a bit more as its slightly harder. Once again as in the previous KF most all spells are rendered in nice 3D graphics. This time around the game went a little more mainstream in its approach as far as, you gain certain spells at certain levels, theres more NPCs & text along with implementing more side quests. They did add the nice factor of multiple endings & final battles.(2 each) The main sword in the game gains expirance & levels up to become more powerful. There are plenty of magic weapons, armors, shields, gloves, boots & more to be found & bought. More techno Classical based music comes to you in the background setting the tone for the game. You spend more time outside in this title when compared to the previous game. This game plays exactly like the 1st game & will seem a bit difficult at 1st. Give the game a chance, about an hour into it you wont regret it. The story doesnt carry over from the 1st game so its a good stand alone title. Over all id say the KF series is one of the best franchise on the playstation. All RPG fans should at least play this game. Many should own it. Its a cheap game these days & a bargain to say the least. I always try & review games under $30 most in the $5-20 range so people have a chance to get some entertainment for a low price. low price=low risk. A little KF History the real 1st KF was a japan & euro release only it was simply called Kings Field.(red cover w 3D art) The game released in the U.S. in early 1996 Kings Field is actually the 2nd game in japan & the U.S KF2 was the 3rd KF game in japan, thus the Ps2 game was the 4th KF game. If you've played KF & like it be sure to check out similar games from Fromsoftware the developer of the KF games. Try King's Field & Shadow Tower on the playstation. Along with Eternal Ring & KF4 on the PS2. My Numerical Ratings 1-10 higher=better. Game play 9. slight bit of slowdown at times & no analog control support. Graphics 8. this is an old game but looks better than most that age. Music 10. Great Fun Factor 9. Unique feel Thanks & enjoyRead full review
King's field 2 has been a long time major favorite of mine, and I personally have to say even though the graphics compared to nowadays games suck. Back then it was amazing. But either way! The gameplay & soundtrack to this game is simply perfect. Nothing else truly compares to it. Nothing compares to this game. Its a great game and anyone who is a true RPG player would know that and love this game.
I have all 3 kingsfield game discs now, 4 of kingsfield 1, 2 of kingsfield 2, and only 1 of kingsfield 3, like them all !

Still an entertaining and enjoyable game. Graphics are not great by today's standards but still fun. Action and puzzle solving.
