Simple, Sleek, Functional
I received the Kidde carbon monoxide alarm, popped in the batteries and it was working. It's made by the same company that made my old alarm (I think they merged) that has lasted about 15 years, although the warranty was for 5 and its expected life as only 7. These are good quality, simple to operate products. They also make one that's electric with battery backup. My old one was electric only with no battery backup. I highly recommend this item if you need a carbon monoxide alarm, and we all should have one if you have gas furnaces or gas water heaters or gas cooking stoves. 2nd one for us !
You do need to replace these detectors about every 10 years or less. We really liked our last detector from Kidde and it lasted 7 years, even that is a bargain. We liked the newer platform that reduces false alarms and the screen shows the highest readings for double checking. This is a replacement and is identical to what we had that finally died after almost 10 years of working just fine. Very well made and easy to see and know the status not just of any gas but also battery life and when it is time to toss it and get a new one. The first one lasted a very long time. What I like about this product is that not only does it act as an alarm but it is also a measuring device that indicates the amount of carbon monoxide in the atmosphere. Unusually low price. Provides sense of security beyond the standard alarm. If I had it to do over again I would buy the exact same model again. Best of the best in carbon monoxide alarms
Not much you can say except that this Kiddie is one of the most accurate, best carbon monoxide alarms made. Easy installation, extremely accurate, and a must have. I recently purchased this EXACT model when my Amish neighbors showed up at our house to call the fire department after receiving a very high reading on their Kiddie and feeling light headed. Long story short, their gas refrigerator malfunctioned and quickly put massive amount of carbon monoxide into the home (reading an 80 when the fire department showed up.) Would not use any other battery-operated detector.
We had the exact same detector in our home until it reached the end of its programmed 7-year life. At that point, it is designed to be replaced. We saw no reason to use a new detector design when we were happy with the old one and the design lifetime for the new detector had been increased to 10 years. Very easy to install.
