***MINIMAL SPOILERS*** David Bradley portrays Billy Casper, a poor teenage boy in rural-industrial Britain. Billy has not much going for him, gets bullied at home by his much-older brother, and the bigger kids in school. Billy discovers an injured Kestrel, and decides to read books to learn how to care for the Kestrel. Director Ken Loach has a Gem here; this British film won Two BAFTA Awards in 1971 and a Top Ten National Board of Reviews( USA) Award. This film is one of Mr. Loach's most-discussed films, and shows how life really is for the working poor in that part of Britian.
