I'm beyond disappointed. This thing is a super nice build quality...after that it's junk..unlike it's predecessor the K01 IT DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO RECORD AND SWITCH BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN Two LOOPS UNINTERRUPTED! The entire performance concept of the Kaos pads is centered around this feature..without it this thing is basically a toy.. Good going Korg you wrecked one of the most innovative electronic instruments ever.. So sad. Don't get this if you want a PERFORMANCE tool..OK to build loops with but useless for any actual real Kaossolator performance action..

I had to write this because I can't understand what others are reviewing saying you can only do one loop. See the "I" and "II" buttons -- those are loops one and two. I have heard an argument for the KO1 model being superior because it does feel sturdier, you could put a grid on it for global precision, there's a "glitch mode" which I won't bother explaining and is simpler overall. HOWEVER this is certainly the V2. You can save your settings and loops! That alone is huge versus starting fresh every time. it has a microphone for environmental sound pick up. The screen actually helps (one one is just a number indicating the voice). You can change the scale and the range (which is why you couldn't add a grid to this) Someone described it as a toy and as someone with a large assortment of instruments, recording and performing experience ... I agree. It's something to fiddle with, but you can make some really fun tunes in a couple minutes once you learn to use it. There is a learning period and I did need to look at the manual online. Additionally to the "toy" reference - it is VERY light weight if using the adaptor instead of batteries- and I highly suggest the adaptor. How have I used this? In a plane with headphones. Plugged into speakers in a room at a party where people took turns making beats or freestyling over it. Great times were had. I did try it for home recording but I wouldn't buy this for that purpose. If you want something for actual synth stage or recording performance, you need the pro model.Read full review
