What else can be said about Ace's guitar work that hasn't already been said? Ace is a frequently mentioned guitar hero by many heavy metal/hard rock/heavy rock artists, in fact the late great Dimebag Darrell said once that without Ace there would be no Dime!..can't think of a better compliment than that!!! Ace was always my favorite member in KISS, and I had this cd on record years ago and the record got ruined and I can't explain why but I never thought about buying it on cd, then one day while watching the movie Detroit Rock City, I suddenly started thinking about the songs "Rip It Out" and "New York Groove" and after the movie went straight to the computer and Ebay and bam!, there it was with a Buy It Now and I did...totally worth it. All the songs on the cd just rock out, especially "Rip It Out", but to me personally the real gem on the cd is "Fractured Mirror", an instrumental that really showcases Ace's guitar work, and I'm not ashamed to say is an emotional song...which great songs are supposed to do right! Highly recommend this cd, especially to those that want a cd that rocks from beginning to end and or to people who just want to hear some amazing guitar work.Read full review
This is the disc that staked Ace's claim as the real rocker in Kiss. Pete's disc was horrible. Gene's had a few tolerable cuts. Paul's was very good but not the rocker that Ace's turned out to be. New York Groove was the hit but in my opinion was the weakest (read radio friendliest) track on the disc. Unlike his bandmates, Ace did the lion's share of the song writing on his lp. I believe the success of this disc is what gave Ace the impetus to strike out on his own. Unfortunately he couldn't keep his self destructive side in check. His solo career was filled with great songs but was fairly short lived releasing only four discs, one of which being all live recordings with one bonus studio track. Hopefully Ace will get back in the groove and grace us with a few more classics before he hangs it up for good.Read full review
This is the best selling of the four solo albums put out by the members of KISS and for good reason. The guitar playing is spot on and the singing and lyrics are tight and in perfect fit to the music. It was a true and successful attempt at a solo album when the group was just trying to showcase their individual talents. This is a must have for any guitarist or musician that is leaning to the art of heavy rock, or for the lover of classic metal.
CD is awesome and the product was in great shape. Just like advertised. Best KISS Solo album by far!!!
Overall this album was a bit of a dissapointment. New York Groove was really the only good song on this album. However his guitar work was good as ever. His other songs felt like they were missing something. The best songs are Rip it Out, New York Groove, Wiped-Out and Fractured Mirror. Other than those songs they just didn't click.
