The KEF LS50 is already a renown audiophile favorite, so I'll just add my own experience to their praises. The LS50s make an immediate impression. They are heavier than they look and sound bigger than they are. The sound is so precise. Spacious in air yet laser focused in soundstage. In that way, they remind me a little of electrostatic speakers. I hooked them up out of phase (accidentally) at one point, and the speakers revealed my error immediately because it so obvious. The imaging is so cleear and exact. My two concerns before I bought these speakers were if they might be two bright or if the low end rolled off too quickly. In my experience, the highs were very crisp and sharp but never strident. Overall, they seemed very natural. The bass response doesn't shake the room (of course), but it's musically pure. Acoustic instrucments (upright bass, drums) were reproduced with the full weight of the instrument and without muddiness. Electronic music pushed the speakers beyond their sweet spot on occasion, though I was playing them at higher than normal levels. Overall, the speakers punch well above their weight. They are a steal at the price. Read full review

Have been into audio since college days and trust me--that is a long time ago. Some products just transcend. I have two other systems. One centered on Quad 57's and my main system centered on Spendor SP100s. To me there is an understated magic in the best British speakers. I read these were designed as an extension of the concepts used in the LS3/5A legendary BBC-designed monitors. After living with these for a few months -- I believe KEF has been successful in recreating the naturalness of that speaker but made it better in all ways. The punch, the bass these speakers create has to be heard to be believed. The upper octave extension is lovely. My only caution would be that these babies take a while to break in. Before they do they can sound incredibly disjointed. I have seen reviews from folks who are not 'whelmed' buy these and can only conclude they did not give them enough time to settle in. That, or they paired them with electronics far below their pay grade. Read full review

I would not consider myself an audiophile, but these speakers are great. The build quality is excellent and they reproduce the audio with precision. I have a whole home audio system (Sonos) and when walking through the rooms, the KEFs stand out. I tend to hear things that I don't hear in the other rooms. I am using a Pioneer Elite VSX-92TXH that push out about 130WPC. I've heard that these speakers are power hungry and I intend on upgrading to a high current stereo amplifier in the future. I haven't really gone in-depth on making them sound the best via stands, placement, etc. and I'm already very happy with the purchase. I can see myself keeping these forever.

What can I say? This is the center speaker for my full surround set up of LS50’s. Doesn’t get much better than that.
