From the writer/director of the Halloween-homage, Clownhouse, comes Jeepers Creepers and, as with Clownhouse, the John Carpenter school of minimalism is again evident in this, Victor Salva's follow up (unfortunately, only really in the first half of the film though) You may have heard this about the Jeepers Creepers already but, this is commonly viewed as a film of 2 halves. The first half is brilliant. Filled with nail-biting suspense, there is a true sense of horror when the kids are terrorized by the maniac truck driver. The lead actors are likeable, realistic and well cast and just when things begin to look promising, things take a turn for the worse midway when the film becomes predictable and cliched thanks to a major cahnge in direction and the introduction of a bunch of cardboard characters. The film sadly loses focus and the terror disappears (why Salva didn't keep the kids in the house I'll never know!?). Despite this, Jeepers Creepers is still an entertaining and re-watchable horror. It's not too heavy, and not to light, and one of the better American horrors of the last 10 years (along with Blair Witch and Open Water imho) - that's why I bought it. It also features a classic scene (i.e. when the kids first see the Creeper outside his house). If you're after 2 truly scary films though, check out the grisly French slasher flic, Haute Tension (aka High Tension) or the grandaddy of them all... Halloween - the original 1978 masterpiece. Enjoy and hope you find this review useful.Read full review
If you still have not seen or heard of this movie, then where have you been? It is an excellent horror movie. It is creepy, and scary, and has a genuinely scary monster. It has scares that make you jump. It has gory parts for the folks who like that, and it has an excellent ending that I thought worked very well. Basically, two kids on a road trip run into the creeper, who wakes up every few years, and searches out certain humans, that have parts it wants to eat. The kids are in the wrong place, at the wrong time, and cross the creatures path. They also see it doing bad things. Turns out one of them has something it wants as well, and now it is after them! Let the mayhem commence. One of the few really good horror flicks of the last few years. Part 2 was not as good or as scary, and went off in a somewhat different direction, but is also worth a watch. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it an 8.5, and I would give part two a 6.5 respectively.Read full review
Everything about this (cast, story, filming techniques, etc.) is extraordinary. I always loved "scary movies" as a child, and this revived that intrigue. Not a slasher, blood and guts movie. There is just enough gore to let you know this evil thing means business. It has a great storyline, realistic relationships, mystery, suspense, and you'll be on the edge of your seat. The old cars used in a contemporary world, old buildings, and everything you see gives it that eeriness you expect. Just a good old fashioned scary movie. Best I've seen in 40 years.

Ok, this movie used every single cliche in horror movies. Was this is a spoof or where they really trying to be scary? From the start this movie was cheesy. I found myself just getting annoyed at how many times I said - well that was dumb! Why would they get involved in this creepy guy's business? Are there no cops in town? You know the #1 rule in horror movies - don't investigate the strange noise in the basement. Well that one is so obvious I thought everyone knew it - I guess the writer of Jeepers Creepers did not. The main characters think it is a good idea to mess with psycho guy who just tried to run them over. So they go to this creepy church where the guys obviously lives and they "investigate". One of them actually thinks it is a brilliant idea to go down a rusty pipe that goes to an underground play areas for the creature. People seem to like this movie although I do not know why. Cheesy!Read full review
Jeepers Creepers is my favorite movie in the horror genre. I like the characters, plot, and the scenes in the movies. I am still yet to learn more about this Jeepers Creeper's dude who creeps me out. Where did he come from? Why? Leaves you hanging in the dark. But great movie.
