Having read all the tabloid garbage about the Jackson marriage, I bought this book to get the real scoop, and what I read/experienced was a great deal more. Denise Jackson tells the story of their/her life in such a way that I laughed, cried, empathized and cheered throughout the entire book. It's an easy read and one that you can't put down. I felt my own spirituality energized by her deep faith and what can be achieved if you 'let go and let God'. Everything in life does happen for a reason, and this book re-enforces that belief. Tara
I loved the book. I am a long time fan of Alan Jackson, so when his wife wrote this book, it was a must have for my library. It was beautifully written, easy to read...not too far above one's head. And hard to put down when I started it. A lovely story of two people who feel in love as teenagers, and still have the same kind of love for each other in their 'middle age'. Very nicely told, with just enough details...but not too many as to expose their complete lives to the world. And it ends with Denise finding the 'love of her life' in God....beautiful book.
I decided to buy this book because I admire Alan Jackson's talent and what I thought I new about his personal life. Having read it however, I have even MORE admiration for this couple. Denise Jackson offers an honest, downhome and heartfelt portrayal of her life in the shadow and spotlight of her husband's career and the toll that it once took on their marriage and her well being. They are living proof of the old adage that "MONEY DOES NOT BUY HAPPINESS", but rather that it can complicate life and one's ability to navigate the rough waters of life. This book demonstrates that only through spiritual guidance can true satisfaction, purpose, healing and forgiveness be found. This book should be REQUIRED reading to those who seek marriage counseling. It shows how 2 people CAN overcome and find each other again with God's help. GREAT STORY!!Read full review
I bought this book because Alan Jackson has been my favorite country singer since he first became a very popular counry singer. I have followed his career for years and have all of his CD's. I wanted to read the book because Denise Jackson wrote the book about her life with Alan and turning to God in a time when she needed him most. It is a very good book and Denise tells it like it is and I so admire her for getting it all out in the open when things were bad in the marriage. I am so happy that they are the happy couple with happy children that they are today.
I found this book to be a very interesting explanation about what went wrong with a storybook romance and marriage that to outside view looked like it was perfect. Denise Jackson gives an honest and intimate look at the love she has for her husband, superstar Alan Jackson and how much he loves her. AJ is one of my most favorite artists and the experiences in this book give new meaning to many of the phrases in his beautiful love songs and makes the heartbreak that they went through so real.
