I upgraded from an E5400 Pentium Dual Core to this E8500 Core 2 Duo on my second old desktop pc built on an Asus P5QL SE m/b from 2009 which was left aside for a couple of years and the performance results absolutely exceeded my expectations. I needed an inexpensive upgrade for this pc for every day use (no OC and no gaming) and this used CPU was a cheap and easy, yet amazing improvement. We've been using it on a 10 h daily basis for about one and a half month now with no problems at all. I'm so impressed from its speed compared to the previous CPU (almost double) that decided to take the upgrade a little further and install an SSD for the OS. I'm really glad I did this instead of moving to another newer processor version (i series) which requires a substantial upgrade cost in m/b, ram, etc. So if you have an old pc with LGA 775 m/b, want to keep your gear and be able to work faster, buy one of these. You will not regret it!Read full review

I would like to be able to enjoy this processor but it gives me constant Blue Screen errors and automatically reboots my system. Bought it to upgrade my HTPC setup for streaming. EVGA 680i board with latest P33 BIOS. Spent hours troubleshooting trying different voltage settings and memory timings to no avail. The Wolfdale line is supposed to be comptible with this motherboard but I haven't had any luck so far.

The Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 is a great product that worked perfectly when installed. It replaced an E5200 that was the original cpu in an older pc. The difference in efficiency and speed is quite noticeable. A simple fix/upgrade like this can save you the cost of buying a new pc depending on your requirements. Check out Intel's specs to ensure your pc will accept this class of cpu.

Great for basic Windows apps and even many games! These CPUs are plenty speedy for the average user. If you are still working with an older system, try a 10,000 RPM hard drive or SSD for better performance, and of course, 3GB of RAM (memory) is a bare minimum.

This CPU is a great deal. I received it earlier than promised. It has improved my computers processing speed.
