The Insignia NS-SB316 may not be the top of the line, but for a mid-sized (32-45") tv, the improvement in their sound quality is astounding. Most smaller flat tv's suffer from tiny speakers and/or speakers pointed down or at the wall; not the best solution for much more than background music, and even worse for voice. This soundbar has good-sized full-range speakers facing forward, plus the switchable bass woofer mid-cabinet take the weak away and bring clarity and body to the sound. Bass response from just the internal woofer is enough for most rooms, but a sub out jack gives you the option if needed. Only caveat: use the optical input or Bluetooth instead of the RCA; the analog jacks revealed substantial amplifier hiss on my setup. Recommended!

When buying speakers, you almost always get what you pay for. This soundbar is no exception. I wanted an upgrade to my buzzing / grade z pc speakers and I didn't want to break the bank. This seemed like a good option, balancing price and quality. And it has been a good deal for me. The price was right and the sound upgrade is significant. But it won't impress the audio snobs of the world. On the plus side: I needed a remote - check, remote works great at a distance of approx. 12 feet. I wanted better sound than I had - check, sound is the upgrade I wanted in both volume and clarity. Extras - check, the presets for voice vs. music work surprisingly well. On the minus side: On the highest volume settings I get a background hum. (I have to compensate by using the computer's maximum volume output settings so I can turn down the volume on the speaker.) When adjusting the volume up or down using the remote, the jumps can be quite noticeable. That is to say, I'll want just a slight change up or down but the change I get goes past the level I want with a single click of the remote. (This may be partly due to the fix I mentioned above.) In all, I am pleased with the soundbar. I got the features I wanted for the price I could afford. I think this is a nice middle-of-the-road option for folks on a budget. But if sound excellence is your expectation, you'll need to dig a lot deeper into your wallet. You can't get a world-class audio experience on the cheap. 3 of 5 stars to reflect the middle-of-the-road quality of this speaker.Read full review

This speaker was very easy to set up. It has Good sound (not great but good). Best sound for the dollar that I have found. Excellent for TV. The bluetooth works great and has a good range. Great Value.

Enhances my sound a little bit, but is ok for the great price. I wish I could see a volume bar on the tv screen so I would know what level the volume is without having to play with the sound up and down button. Couldn't tell much difference between using an optical cable and a regular one.

I think it's great for the price. The sound is good. Being able to turn the bass off and on is a plus for those quiet times or apartment living when you need to keep it down. Different sound settings to choose from. My only complaint is I wish I didn't have to add another remote to the collection just for volume control.
