Features Actors; Anna Faris, Colin Hanks, Emma Stone, Rumer Willis, Katherine McPhee, Kat Dennings & Hugh Hefner. Rating: PG-13 Running Time:97 Min. Faris stars as Shelly Darlingson, a 27-year old Playboy Bunny living the good life with Hugh Hefner and endless shopping and parties. One morning, a note from Hefner comes and Darlingson thinks it could her first centerfold spread offer but it's instead an eviction notice - at 27, she's too old ('27 is 59 in bunny years'). So evicted with nothing but the junker car she arrived in, she hits the streets bewildered and lost and with no real skill sets. She stumbles upon a college campus and realizes that being a housemother for a sorority would be perfect. Getting laughed out of all the popular sororities, she finds one sorority in shambles and about to be closed down due to lack of pledges. With only a small group of rough-around-the-edges nerds, misfits and social pariahs, Zeta is the laughing-stock of the campus which is perfect for Shelly to come in and transform into the school's most popular sorority. With Shelly helping all the gals, the girls in turn help her out to impress a smart nerdy guy (Colin Hanks) who she develops a crush on. Will there be more than a couple make-overs? Will there be lessons of self-esteem and beauty? Will each of the girls have their little small obstacles to overcome? Yes on all accounts and it's all as derivative as it sounds. Although the story has almost nothing to give us, Faris still made me smile throughout. Cute movie with a good ending.Hope this helps you decide. Thanks for reading! :)Read full review
Take the ditzy heroine of LEGALLY BLONDE, transplant her to a sorority house where the residents are nerdy misfits (ala SYDNEY WHITE), and you get HOUSE BUNNY. If you like those other movies, you'll like this one. Anna Faris is an excellent actress who has gotten typecast by the SCARY MOVIE franchise, and unfortunately HOUSE BUNNY may not succeed in getting her out of B-movies, because Anna convincingly plays a VERY dumb blonde. Don't make the mistake of thinking she really IS an airhead; it's ACTING, and Anna should really be competing for major roles with the likes of Reese Witherspoon, Drew Barrymore, and Amanda Seyfried. Until that happens, this is an enjoyable comedy, predictable but satisfying, as the underdogs triumph and the message to "be yourself" (only use some deoderant) leads to the girls getting the guys.Read full review
I love this movie!!! This movie is very funny and was probably one of the best movies in 2008. Shelley Darlingson was raised in an orphanage and then becomes a Playboy Bunny and moves into the Playboy Mansion. Shelley is living a carefree life until a rival gets her tossed out of the Playboy Mansion. With nowhere to go, fate delivers her to the sorority girls from Zeta Alpha Zeta. In desperation she takes a job as a house mother for a sorority of misfits losing their house for lack of members. They have a few months to find 30 pledges, or a sorority of mean girls will take over their place. Shelley figures that girls will pledge a house that boys find interesting, so she sets out to make the Zetas alluring, not act too smart, and host great parties. In order to accomplish their goal, they need Shelley to teach them the ways of makeup and men; at the same time, Shelley needs some of what the Zetas have -- a sense of individuality. The combination leads all the girls to learn how to stop pretending and start being themselves. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys comedies. This movie will keep you laughing the entire time because Shelley is what one would consider a “dumb blonde”.Read full review
The movie was very funny in my opinion better than the "Scary Movie" movie Anna Faris did. Anna herself came up with the idea for the movie and the movie kind of foreshadows what actually ended up happening in the fact that the girls next door which are in the movie left the mansion. There are some other actor to mention and singers turn actors for the first time such as Colin Hanks (Orange County and Tom Hanks Son), Tyson Ritter (All American Rejects), Emma Stone, Katharine McPhee (American Idol/ Singer) and Kat Dennings (40 year old virgin, Nick and Norah..., etc.). It is a Happy Madison production with Adam Sandler actually being one of the producers. A very good movie and I think you will like it.
This movie is typical pointless Hollywood trash, obviously produced by talentless people. Don't waste your time on it. It is a waste of good acting talent. Anna Faris turned out a commendable performance on the later sitcom "Mom".
