This HP printer comes ready to use. When I received mine, I plugged it in to my laptop and was ready to go. Unlike some printers, I didn't need a disk or run through an installation process. Overall, the printer is very easy to use and includes copying, scanning, and printing in black and white or color. I chose to purchase the HP PSC 2110 All-in-One because I had owned one previously that broke. The ink cartridges are a little pricey for this model, but they go a long way and provide a quality picture. So if you are looking for an affordable, easy to use printer, with the all-in-one basic options, this is a great printer for home or college.
This is an above average ink jet printer if you can pick one up used for $40 or less (including shipping). I have had mine 3 years now and use it more than it was designed to be used. The printer does have some annoying error messages, but if your any good with a search engine, they're simple to get around. I refill all the ink cartridges I use (here is where your errors messages begin-HP really tries to frustrate you with this) and never spend more than $5/cartridge. It still prints scannable bar codes after 5 refills. Check out the pricing on new printers before buying used. Pricing has come way down (so has the quality).
I'm now buying my 2nd HP PSC 2110 All-In-One Inkjet Printer. The 1st one just died. I bought it December 2003(NO TYPO!!) and this is the 1st time it ever gave me any problems. If this one lasts until I use up all of my extra inks it will STILL be a deal! I suspect that I've printed 50,000 pages ranging from receipts to full 8 by 11 color photographs. Plus I've scanned easily 20,000 different items as well. I sell a lot on the Evil Empire and this printer has been faithful for a Looooong time!!) These are good but slightly fragile printers. Someone else said it and it holds --- The worst HP printer is better than the best of everyone else!! (This applys to home use printers!)
I have had this machine for five years now and I can honestly say that I have never had a problem with it. Its great to have a copier, printer and scanner. I also use mine to print photos as well. The ink seems like it lasts quite a while as well...I could have bought another printer but don't need to because this printer still works like the first day I bought it...if you want to purchase a good all-in-one printer for everyday functions this one is for you.
We've had great luck with HP over the years, so we bought the HP 2110 All In 1 for the kids. It survived multiple little hands using it, been dropped once (on a rug fortunately) and is still going strong. It's fast, doesn't hang up or jam up like the Epson it replaced and the color on regular printer paper much to our surprise was just as good as the output of our more expensive HP Photo Smart 1315 Printer.
