First of all, this movie has absolutely nothing to do with "A Haunting in Connecticut" that was released a few years ago. They have no connection nor continuation and I'm sure that the movie producers simply named the movie "A Haunting in Connecticut 2" so it would possibly get more publicity (I guess. The movie isn't even set in Connecticut.) I expected this movie, like most "haunting" movies, to be relatively uninteresting and leave us with a disappointing ending that is common in many of these movies. However, my expectations were completely blown away when I watched this movie, which had a brilliant, yet understandable plot, and a definitive, satisfying ending that truly gives it justice. You don't have to wait for the scares to happen as you do with many movies (such as some of the Paranormal Activity). Almost immediately after the family moves in to their new home, creepy figures start appearing and the young daughter senses that something is definitely not right. The mother also has a secret that she is intent on repressing, and therefore refuses to believe her daughter's claims that something is wrong with the house. The movie quickly picks up speed as the background of the house unfolds and you become eager to discover its sinister past. And just when you think you have it figured out - a twist will come along that makes you question everything again. The movie has several parts that may make more sensitive viewers cringe (think: something worse than getting simple stitches), however the blood and violence isn't graphic nor excessive. Several scenes may make one laugh due to the dramatisation or unrealistic aspects, but overall the movie is well-done and the plot is decent and well-developed. The acting is, in my opinion, well-done, particularly in the case of Heidi, the little girl. The characters seem real and you can sympathise with them as they struggle with their own personal, and ghostly, problems. In the end one character overcomes her own setbacks and fears to save her family and better herself as a person. The ending leaves you feeling content and is almost heart-warming, and closes everything up nicely. While it says "based on a true story", I'm sure that it was largely exaggerated for the film, but I'm largely unconcerned with that. In short, this movie is definitely worth a watch!Read full review
I didn't know they were making a part 2 to Haunting in Connecticut but I was a huge fan of part one and decided to just straight up buy part two with knowing little about it. Right off the bat I noticed that Georgia is no where near Connecticut...With that said it was an all around amazing film. As hard as I want to dislike the movie I can't really think of a part I hated or felt was cheesy. I watched a documentary on the hear "haunting" in Georgia and i'd give the movie 15% true to the story and that is just the base story behind the haunting. If you are looking for a movie like 13 Ghosts this isn't it. It is well worth the money.
